Author bio:
Mostly I write about travel. Sometimes I write about stuff that isn't travel, like clutter, or identity, or being childfree. But mostly it's travel stuff. By day, I'm an academic. This means I spend time thinking, writing, and talking about language learning, transnationalism, critical theory, ethnography, positionality, grounded theory, teacher education, and a few other bits and bobs. But then when I come home I write fun stuff - like the stuff that's on here - and it's not academic, not at all. Instead, it's mostly about travel (did I mention that?) But I do use a few big words every now and again, just to keep you on your tippy toes. You can thank me later.

Author bio:
Since the age of 14, Katrina has loved to tell stories - usually of the fantasy or science fiction variety. Her work has been read worldwide, loved by many. Although her art often bends towards the dramatic and, dare we say, cliche she is often heard to say that her sense of humor is how she makes a living. She's funny, witty, and deeply in love with Three Musketeer bars. All other bars stand without comment. She is a member of Friends of Lulu and fiercely believes in the support of writers, comic artists, and single mothers. This has nothing to do with her fitting in either of these categories, even if she does or has done so at one time in her life. If pressured, she will elaborate on her plans for global domination using nothing but some golf balls and a pink tutu. Other than that, she claims that her hair is exactly a meter long and all else would bore you.

Naturally gypsy-footed and multitasking, she spends most of her time wondering what else she could be doing and where else she could be going. Fern reads romances and can’t help but think “None of this would have been a problem if they’d just talked to each other from the beginning! This novel would have been 20 pages and had a lot less crying.” Several dozen shorts and novels later, she decided to see if communicating like adults could make for an immersive and steamy story line. Her opening short story, “…And Obey,” introduces us to a world where the key to happiness is understanding your own desires and communicating that to your partner(s). GENE GROSSMAN was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in the North side neighborhood of Albany Park, where he attended Hibbard Elementary and Von Steuben High School. He pursued majors in psychology, chemistry and mathematics at Wright Junior College, Roosevelt University and Illinois Institute of Technology - all the while working his way through high school and college by playing piano in clubs on Chicago's then-famous "Rush Street." After moving to Southern California, he worked his way through law school playing piano and appeared as a musician in seven major motion pictures. While slowly building his law practice, Gene purchased a truckload of movie equipment he rented out to film production companies. Always having been interested in boating, getting divorced prompted him to buy and move onto a 45-foot Chris Craft motor yacht in Marina del Rey California,. Years later, while serving as navigator on a yacht delivery from the U.S. to Tortola, Gene wrote his first book, "Celestial Navigation for Dummies" (before the popular series of 'Dummies' books was created). He used his own production equipment to shoot a video on the subject Celestial Navigation - "Sextant Use and the Sun Noon Shot" and unintentionally started the nautical video industry in this country. Over the next few years he followed that first title up with more than 50 other educational DVD titles, all displayed on his production company's website at www.MagicLampDVDs.com. Having moved on from doing scripts for his video productions, Gene turned to writing fiction, and now spends most of his time in the marina on his new boat, where he created the 15-book series of 'Peter Sharp Legal Mysteries,' all now available both in print and as eBooks at Smashwords via www.LegalMystery.com In addition to the 15 Peter Sharp novels, Gene compiled a group of fiction and non-fiction titles that he has either written or edited for others, plus some classic stories: the publishing company he formed (www.MagicLampPress.com) now has more than 60 books in print. It was during this year I started taking photos and spent 1987-88 studying photography at the Queensland College of Art. My career began as a cadet photographer on The Canberra Times newspaper in 1989, before moving back to Brisbane and The SUN in 1990. I began freelancing as a news photographer in 1991 and in 1992 moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, where I worked as a freelance news/tabloid photographer for more than five years. During this time I had work published in every major Scottish and London-based newspaper. In 1998 I left Scotland and hitchhiked all the way around Australia, photographing everyone who gave me a lift and writing about each hitch (...so I did, available through Smashwords - see below). I live in Brisbane and continue to work in the media.

While forgiveness has healed wounds in some circumstances, silence over an issue that need serious attention cannot amount to forgiveness. We must express our long held concerns through legal channels (International Court of Justice comes in handy) and come up with a solution. While compensation (monetary) in itself cannot make up for some of the losses, it would show a sense of responsibility on the part of loss-creator. We cannot continue shying away from sensitive issues, including the demand for reparation, nor can we get tired until what is possible has been done to heal the wounds inflicted by the colonial powers and Mugabe’s regime. The duty of a leader is to effectively represent those he owes power. If he cannot do that, he is not worth his salt. Robert Gabriel Mugabe has let us down... We remain with the burden of representing our people internationally. If we cannot stand up for what is rightfully ours, how can we contribute effectively to making decisions affecting the entire world? We have to perform our local and international duties as is expected of us and Zimbabwe will have its rightful share of international respect. Lingering effects of colonialism and Gukurahundi are the most common factors, primary causes of Zimbabwean challenges. There are unfinished transitions due to lack of leadership and failure to let go of the past has added to this in Zimbabwe. Transition is the time between an ending of status quo and a new beginning. It is the time required to establish a new state/system or to create an environment that fosters a new way of thinking. It is the time required for psychological reorientation. The danger of not differentiating the modified old and the real new is that we end up with incomplete or delayed transition.
