The Bear and the Bee

Buzzing around, the bee was bored.

He gave a little sigh and yawned.

‘Why oh why can't I have a friend?

To play with forever, from day 'till end.’

He flew round and round but wherever he flew,

people hit him with papers and then shouted ‘SHOO!’

The bee tried to show that he meant no harm,

by hiding his sting and being all calm.

But no matter how hard he tried,

no matter how calm he was,

people got mad and terribly cross.

He then bumped into a big hairy tum,

dark brown and rounded (as round as a plum!).

‘What's that?’ asked the tum.

‘Who are you?’ asked the bee.

The bee then looked up and smiled with glee.

‘Oh joy! My greatest friend! A larger version of my faithful ted!’

The bear looked down at the young bee called Fred,

cleared his throat, and he said:

‘Bee oh bee. Do you mean any harm?

I will not be scared and I shall keep my calm.’

Young Fred was delighted to hear such news,

to not feel the papers, or hear the ‘shoos!’

‘Why oh bear, I'm not a bee to hate!

Say old bear, do you want to be mates?’

The big bear smiled from ear to ear,

‘People are always full of fear!’

‘I get you bear I do I do!

Do people say shoo to you too?’

‘They do indeed my buzzing mate!

But it's more of a scream that's full of hate!’

The bear and Fred walked off in the sun,

having a laugh and having fun.

When you're searching for a friend, you now know what to do.

Always find someone who understands you.
