Jerry tossed another log on the campfire as he and his two companions bedded down for the night. He looked across the dancing firelight at the two older men seated across from him. Hank and Gary were the very picture of seasoned, modern-day cowboys, providing a wealth of education for Jerry during his first week as a ranch hand. They had agreed to take him along on this season’s cattle drives so he could get his feet wet, figure out if this was the kind of job he could handle.
He watched as the two weather-beaten men began unrolling their bedding to settle in for a night on the trail. Fresh out of college and disillusioned with a nine-to-five cubicle existence, Jerry had chosen to make a major change in his life, and this was it. The decision had taken him away from the sterile environment of the city, but also his longtime girlfriend, Betty. Once the sun had set and the challenges of a very physically demanding day were through, Jerry would allow himself the luxury of remembering one of the best things from the life he left behind. He also found that the longer he spent away from Betty, out for weeks on end on horseback with sweaty men, the more he looked forward to some private time.
The last few nights when he was sure Hank and Gary had drifted off to sleep, confident in the sounds of their snoring, Jerry had indulged himself by masturbating silently in his sleeping bag while looking at Betty’s picture by the dwindling firelight. A poor substitute for feeling her body against his, but Jerry accepted that, for the time being, this would have to make do until they could find a way to be together once again. His body responded automatically to the thought as he laid out his bedroll, his dick twitching restlessly in his denim jeans as he bent over the ground. His two companions had already settled in, lying down with worn cowboy hats cocked on their heads, covering their faces. It usually didn't take long before they were both asleep. They needed rest before the sun rose to mark the start of a hard day driving cattle.
