About The Author

When I first understood school grades, I was bitterly disappointed at only being able to scrape by; I worked hard and enjoyed studying, so it didn’t make sense that my grades were average at best. Then, at the peak of my frustration, and just as I was about to give up, I happened to be watching a documentary on learning disorders. I knew then what was wrong with me, that I was dyslexic. Way back then, in the 70’s all that was understood was that there were such things as learning disorders but there was little on how to cope with them and even less on how to overcome them, so I set to at understanding this, ‘gift’ the best I could and soon appreciated that there was a direct correlation between what I ate and the grades I achieved with some foods causing me to feel quite agitated and leaving me less focused.

For years I abstained from a whole range of food, chocolate, some nuts and carbonated drinks in particular and stayed with what I was best at until finally I got to college where I studied chemistry and worked as a research scientist until I focused on and became very interested in health which led me to qualifying and practicing as an alternative physical therapist.

My goal then as it is now, is to help you achieve your goals. I focus on health because, without good health, it is much more difficult to achieve even the basic of goals. With an understanding of why we are ill, we can re-gain our health and achieve the goals we’ve set out to do. I understood that some foods caused me to feel agitated and to lose focus. This is a fact but it wasn’t all the information available to me and when I learned that I was allergic to some foods, this was when the true breakthrough came and my full health was restored; it is this greater knowledge of my relationship with food that has led me to be free of dyslexia and other illnesses associated with eating them. It is my goal through this book to press you to want to know why you are ill and then when you think you do, to press you further in overcoming and recovering what is rightfully yours, your health.

May your weaknesses become your strength in this incredible journey we call life and serve to your betterment now and this day forwards as your healing stands the test of time and you receive beyond anything you could possibly have imagined.

Now the question I have for you is this. Why?

Introduction

Why, What, How

Our goal is to fully recover from an illness that is holding us back; we want to know why we are ill. To understand why we are ill we need to know what made us ill and to do this, we need to look back to before we got sick and understand the chain of events, the history, that led us to where we are today. With the chain of events fully appreciated, we can ‘take them apart’ and understand the reasons for the illness, how it occurred. The reasons for the illness, is the knowledge we require to overcome it, without which, all we have is an illness with a name that operates in our lives. Once we have knowledge, we then have to make the decision to use conventional or alternative medicines to assist in our recovery. What we are going to learn through this book is how to use alternative methods of medicine to recover, we are going to learn how to, ‘self-heal’.

Self-Healing

Without assistance of medication, to experience a state of illness through to complete recovery

We all have the ability to self-heal, it’s just that some of us have forgotten how to. Firstly then, let’s take a look at the chain of events, history and alternative medicines.

From the Beginning of Time

We all have ancestors, all the way back to the beginning of time, with all generations carrying memories in their minds and hearts to pass on to their children, all of which have filtered down and are locked into our present DNA. Some of the memories are of illnesses, why the illnesses came and how they were overcome, all memories are available for us to learn from. ‘Tapping into’ that memory, that knowledge bank, through the use of the spoken and written word or alternative medicines, is a way to initiate self-healing

Not being able to ‘tap into’ the knowledge bank is not why there is an illness but why we are not completely healed; an illness prevails due to lack of knowledge. It is lack of knowledge that perpetuates illness; lack is illness.

The word recovery is an important one to understand. Recovery is to recover something, to gain back something lost. What are we recovering? We are recovering our health. What are we recovering from? We are recovering from an illness that took our health. We are gaining back, recovering our health, because it is rightfully ours. If we have health, we are free. What are we free from? We are free from an illness that causes restrictions, we are free from an illness that binds us and keeps us from our heart’s desires, the ‘things’ that fulfill us. Being free from illness means we are free to do what it is that fulfills us and have a right to.

Some of us experience periodical bouts of illness. This is interesting because it means that in our present state, we haven’t gained sufficient information, sufficient knowledge, to move from that place of flux to a place of full healing, complete recovery. With more knowledge, complete healing, full recovery, is possible; more knowledge means, more freedom.

With knowledge we are able to appreciate the situation differently, knowledge has empowered us. ‘Seeing’ illnesses in different ways can assist in the healing process. For example, if you ‘see’ an illness as something that is insurmountable, maybe because you don’t understand it, you’ll always be controlled by it rather than you being in control of it and as a consequence the illness will overpower you. But if you understand the illness, you are able to ‘see’ it differently whereby you are in charge and overcome it; what you believe is the pivotal point of your health.

My first personal experience of self-healing was in the overcoming of dyslexia. I self-diagnosed as dyslexic through the knowledge I gained when watching a documentary on learning disorders. Before I had the knowledge of the existence of learning disorders, I had no hope in improving my grades and made no attempt to do anything different to what I was already doing. Knowing that I was dyslexic enabled me with sufficient information to want to try and overcome this learning disorder and for the first time I had hope of fulfilling my dreams. The knowledge of being dyslexic was not enough to overcome it. To overcome it I needed more knowledge about the dysfunction in its function, then the functionality of the dysfunction could be blocked and I would be free of it. I knew changes had to be made to cause for the dysfunction to behave differently so I looked at my life and appreciated that when stress levels were lower, my grades were higher. I knew food should be fresh and natural to be of any use to me and that some things, classed as stimulants, hindered my study program. With the knowledge of the effects of stress and food, I was able to map out their effects and find what was good for me and what was not and a course of action was determined. Knowing what caused for me to be over stimulated and for my grades to suffer, I left them out of my diet. After the initial changes were implemented, I was able to further refine my lifestyle, one step at a time, until I had clarity of thought, ease of study and better grades. Initially I was overwhelmed and believed that there was no hope, but when I understood the situation, my thoughts changed, I was able to break the situation down, take control of it and overcome it,
