A Hungry Alligator

Once a hungry alligator

Ate his dinner and the waiter,

Ate the table and the chair,

And gulped down the silverware.

As he went along the street,

He ate all that he could eat:

One small bicycle, three big cars,

Cakes and rolls and chocolate bars,

Cherries, berries, apples and pears,

Trucks and dolls and teddy bears,

A geranium with the pot—

Alligators eat a lot!

When the gaitor had his fill,

He looked green and slightly ill.

Said the ailing alligator:

‘I am full, I’ll catch you later!’

A Snake Named Jake

A snake named Jake

Made a terrible mistake:

He ate a chocolate cake

And got a stomachache.

Poor snake named Jake,

That was too much cake!

Dandelion

Said a silly dandelion:

‘Am I not a dandy lion?

Lions grow from the ground,

They are feathery and round,

Lions turn all fluffy white,

Lions are a pretty sight!’

Silly, silly dandelion,

You are not a dandy lion.

Lions don’t grow from the ground,

They aren’t feathery and round,

They don’t turn all fluffy white

And they are a scary sight!

There Was a London Dandy

There was a London dandy

Who was very fond of candy.

He ate toffee and gumdrops,

Marshmallows and lollipops,

Butterscotch and licorice,

Caramel and chocolate kiss.

What a sweet tooth had the dandy

For all kinds of lovely candy.

Here comes the bitter truth:

He’s lost all but his sweet tooth!

Harebells

Ding-a-dong! Ding-a-dong!

Listen to the morning song!

Listen, harebells are ringing,

In the meadow they’re singing.
