About the Author

Starting in MLM just fresh out of High School, Stephen instantly fell in love with the Party Plan industry. With a tumultuous journey in this industry, Stephen experienced many successes and failures in his stride. Introspection and soul-searching led him to realise that it was not the external environment but the inside of him which was impeding his growth. That’s when he began a journey of personal development to find out what makes people do what they do, and why some make it and some don’t. 

Stephen realised that given the right tools to work with on the inside, as well as a complete system to build your business, you could have the results you want a lot sooner. It is with this that he began to work on himself and experienced amazing results in every aspect of his life including his business.  

Stephen is a Master Practitioner and coach of Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hypnosis and Timeline Therapy™, and also a member of the Australian Board of NLP and the Time Line Therapy™ Association. 

With a background in Nursing and Training & Development, Stephen has worked with students from all different backgrounds. His work with the long term unemployed, allowed them the necessary skills to successfully gain employment as nurses. 

Stephen is a dynamic presenter and passionate about what he does. He is a member of Toast Masters International and his club. Also a keynote speaker, Stephen has spoken at many events both nationally and internationally.

Though his background is extensively in the Direct sales industry, his clients come from all different social and economic backgrounds, who are dissatisfied with where they are, and want more out of life, business and relationships.

Introduction


I Believe direct sales, be it MLM or Party plan is one of the greatest opportunities in the world. Why? Because it gives ordinary people the chance and choice to create an extraordinary life!


The beauty of direct sales lies in the fact that it’s an entrepreneurial opportunity that requires minimal investment and still promises excellent returns!


Unfortunately, many people in this industry are unable to realize their true potential. I too was one of them until I discovered NLP and began to practice it in my life and Business.


Through NLP I discovered my subconscious blocks and learnt effective techniques to bring positive changes in my life and business. I realized that that it wasn’t my luck that was preventing me from closing sales, but my own attitude and communication skills (or lack of them). Thanks to NLP I learnt effective prospecting and selling techniques that helped me turn around my direct sales business.


Today I spend most of my time coaching and mentoring people in the Direct Sales industry. My personal coaching, team-events and seminars are specially designed to help direct sales entrepreneurs grow and expand their business by using easy and practical NLP techniques.

The Potential of Network Marketing

What should a great entrepreneurial model have? Low investment, great potential for growth, and challenging yet exciting opportunities? Network Marketing offers all that and more! It’s hardly surprising therefore that MLM has made its way to the list of leading new businesses today. The immense potential for growth and the low costs involved in marketing have made network marketing one of the most popular entrepreneurship models in the world.

Just how does Network Marketing work and how can you take advantage of its benefits?

Network Marketing businesses are mostly based on sales, product promotion and signing up new members. An individual has to build up their own network and introduce their company’s products. After signing up new members the network head must train them to promote the products and start a network of their own.

If you should decide to explore the potential of Network Marketing, you must choose a credible company with a good reputation and great products. Depending on the company’s policy or networking method, you can focus on selling and promoting products or registering new members. You can also do both.

If you focus on sales, you will need to advertise the products on a regular basis and hit your target product sales quota. You can purchase the products from your company, they will sell at wholesale or discounted prices, and you can sell them at their retail prices.

You can also recruit new members and teach them how your company’s system works. New members usually need to register or buy a product. You get commissions for every member you sign up. The more members you get to register, the bigger the commission.

Most Multi-Level companies continue to expand with their traditional networking methods. The nature of the work is simple; you build a network of people who may either buy products or become members themselves, and you get sales revenue and commissions.

You can choose to follow the system as you will be trained and mentored by your company. Later on, you can modify the techniques and use your own sales and networking expertise. This book will show you how you can improve on your sales and recruitment

Brief History of Network Marketing

Contrary to popular belief, Network Marketing has been around since the 1950’s, and is not as recent as it seems. Multi-Level companies or MLM such as GNLD, Nutrilite, "The California Vitamin Company" (originally not an MLM company) and of course, Amway Corporation were introduced in the U.S. in the 50’s.

The two very successful representatives of Nutrilite were Rich De Vos and Jay Van Andel who built a large organization across America. They both saw the potential in the marketing methods that they had learnt and mastered through the years, so they built a company called the Amway Corporation or Amway, as more popularly known.

Amway was the first Multi-Level Marketing Company founded on strong values, principles and with a system that applies methods in the truest sense of Network Marketing. In 1959, Rich De Vos and Jay Van Andel established Amway and gave birth to the first known MLM company in the country.

It is not long after the foundation of Amway that it became a household name. Everyone in the U.S. knew what Amway was and what products they offered. As the number of people who made real profits from this MLM company grew, the concept started attracting a lot of attention and soon several other companies began replicating it.

Today, the world has a great number of corporations that use the same Multi-Level Marketing methods and are flourishing in this industry. Network Marketing is the best way to beat the consumer product manufacturing giants that are wiping out smaller companies offering similar products of the same quality, sometimes even better.
