INTRODUCTION

I have always believed that our universe holds more than mere physical attributes. Assuredly, within our time and space, unseen spiritual elements must exist between the atoms and molecules of our outer and inner universes waiting for an opportunity to become discovered and relevant.

Fifteen years ago, in the early hours of a spring morning, my assumption was validated when I awoke writing a catharsis of my life in poetic old English. This true occurrence in my life was very intriguing to me because before that moment I had never scribed verse in such a manner, nor had I really written much verse at all before this instance. An unseen essence, some hidden or peacefully possessed part of me, which lay dormant between the empty spaces of my materiality for more than three decades years, had come to let me know that it was ready to speak in its own unique voice.

Within a period of five years, I put pen to paper and produced an abundant variety of poetry. Some of the poems were more related to spirituality than others - although I believe all poetry is spiritual by nature. In this body of work I have compiled verses relating to the spirituality and mindset of humanity and religion from both an objective and subjective perspective.

I’m happy to share with you this work entitled “33 Beats of Spirit (Part II).” As suggested in the title, there are thirty three poems within this work. Why 33 poems? The number 33 is very meaningful. For example, did you know that: the numerical equivalent of AMEN is 33 (1+13+5+14=33); Jesus performed 33 miracles; Pope John Paul reigned only 33 days as pope; the highest degree in freemasonry is 33; the Hindu Rig Veda has 33 deities? Of course, there are many other references to the number 33 as well. Check it out for yourself.

Also, these poems are a follow-up to a previous work entitled “33 Beats of Spirit (Part I) containing another 33 poems, which pertain to the soul, spirit, conscious and subconscious mind, meditative state, and divine more from an individual’s perspective.

In closing, I wish you and your spirit much peace and happiness for this lifetime, and beyond. Enjoy!

SPIRIT OF HUMANITY

Sustenance

Taste the sweetness of the day.

Eat the fruits of laughter.

Bits of joy retained in soul

live in smile thereafter.

Sample truths of happiness.

Savor vintage wisdom.

Richness of compassion sipped,

flavors inner kingdom.

Swallow warmth of purest light.

Feel the rays of rapture.

Sun of understanding shines -

moment’s bliss to capture.

Quench the thirst from sea of love.

Enliven waves of mind.

Purity from source of life,

flows in humankind.

Voyager’s Prayer

May your captain’s eye

steer steady life’s wheel

upon ever-changing

turbulent waters,

as the Lord’s ageless wind

guides time battered sails

of your heart’s vessel,

to the horizon

of the sunlit truth,

on great tranquil waves

of love’s eternal

cosmic ocean.

Questions

What lies beyond the stars,

past Jupiter and Mars,

in universal sea,

within this you and me?

What are we searching for

if not our meaning’s core,

as days pass into night,

and shadows lend us sight?

What dwells behind our mind,

the spark of humankind,

in cells so far and near,

when loving is not clear?

Has knowledge lost in years

made self succumb to fears,

so ego bound to earth

will live again in birth?

The questions linger on

until our souls have gone

a long way past the sun

where each and all are one.

Stardust

Reach for the heavens,

for we are stardust.

Oneness

Mystical forces

exist in the east,

reside in us all,

will guide one to peace.

To bask in the beauty

of image in mind,

innately be will;

a love we can find.

When faith be subconscious,

inherent be call

to tap and to bind

the one with it all.

In melodic music,

through eloquent word,

by mountain or lake

a peace can be heard.

Vibrations in cosmos

be out there to share.

Obtained in a thought,

with willing to dare.

The path to be taken

‘tis harder to see.

Distractions must end

and way be set free.

Us seekers of knowledge

can learn from a book.

Yet, lessons within

‘tis where we should look.

To meditate often,

be answer and way,

with practice of love,

with yearning to pray.

When outer and inner

be tranquil in state

the road be much wider,

so wisdom be fate.

A light in one’s journey

will come void of sound,

when destiny’s dream

of ONENESS be found.

Eternal Flame

Translucent beauty - life ablaze!

Spark ignited streams to flow.

Flickering in aura’s haze,

singular and burning slow.

Blowing in the changing wind,

essence glowing, though be dim,

guides the darkened path within,

illuminating peace and vim.

Energy of seeker’s sight,

incandescent wisdom warm,

focuses ‘til blaze be bright,

remembered in embodied form.

Eternal flame of purest light,

unperceived reality,

shines to join itself in white,

ascending through humanity.

Meditative Mind

Open heart to love that's known.

Awaken! Walk the road less shown.

Challenge self to truer task.

Unveil the face behind the mask.

Freeing ego from its plight?

Dispose of threat to second-sight.

Deny the cravings of the heart.

Release emotions from the start.

Steady breath to concentrate.

Unbind the senses - Contemplate!

Silence thoughts to emptiness.

Concede to know the nothingness.

Seeing light without the eyes?

Surpass the mist revealed to wise.

Traverse into time's abyss.

Achieve the purist love and bliss...

...Drifting from the undefined?

Mantra brings you back to mind.

We Seek

We seek

what is known and unknown,

enlightened by the way,

which shines before us.

But to wander

from the shadows to the illuminated paths

without quest

is not

which we innately know;

That is, life is,

so we may reacquaint ourselves with our existence

in the now and forever,

which in itself

is one of the mysteries

unknown

we seek.

Spirit’s Mind

When peace with love and joy converge,

a glimpse of oneness will emerge.

Sand in Time

Each being is a grain of sand

that’s falling through a greater hand,

to glisten from a rainbow beach

with drifting hope, and heaven reach.

Wild shapes and sizes float on will

on sudden gusts or silent still,

awaiting rays from loving light
