I grew up as a tomboy. Simply put, my face was always covered in mud and I hated the idea of a dress. Make up didn’t fit my daily routine, but I was always enamored by it. The sight of my mother dressed up for work was completely breathtaking to me. She had the most beautiful blue eyes and the longest black eyelashes. Her lips were touched with neutral-colored lipstick and her blush looked as if she just stepped inside from a cool, crisp afternoon. I look back at pictures and her makeup was the most perfect attribute to her entire wardrobe: simple yet beautiful!
When I turned 18, I really started to dabble. I loved the way make up could turn my ordinary face into a work of art. I started to apply makeup to my friends and was taken by the amazement in their eyes when they turned to the mirror to see the finished product. Now, after working as a professional makeup artist and transforming scores of faces, I have learned one thing: make up was created for the everyday woman.
I truly did not want to impact the celebrity world with my makeup talents. I feel the meaning of “beauty” has been misconstrued in Hollywood. You see, I believe that every woman is a canvas, and make up is a tool to unleash the confident and beautiful spirit they have inside. It doesn’t matter what color you are, how much you weigh, how little you weigh, what your complexion is like, or where you came from. What matters is how you want to portray who you are. Make up is a platform that can be used to enhance your everyday life! It is an expression of where you are moment by moment. If done the right way, it can literally change the course of your life.
The reason I have written this book is to help everyday women build a foundation of who they are based on makeup application. This book will help you change the way you approach the idea of putting on makeup -- it doesn’t have to be a chore! Applying your own make up can turn into self-expression that you have never imagined possible! Once you have mastered your own make up application, it will be an awesome way to start the day, prepare for an evening with your significant other, take charge before an interview, help others on their special day, and so much more.
Take your time through this book. Learn who you are and what makeup applications match your personality the best. The most important thing is to take time for yourself to practice these techniques and master your own canvas!
Wishing you brilliance in beauty,
