~One~

Surfer Joe paddles hard, nimbly gets to his feet and takes off on yet another perfect wave. He deftly leans into the face of the wave and turns hard off the bottom, creating a wide arcing spray. He smiles to himself, enjoying the subliminal high momentarily gained from the power of the wave.

The wave pitches in front of him, turning the face of the wave into a mesmerising steep wall. He ducks instinctively as the wave breaks over him, forming a perfect tunnel. Without hesitation he braces himself and races through the energised pocket, emerging victorious amid balls of foam and spray. He raises his paws in the air and screams exultantly before exiting out the back of the wave.

Displaying a huge grin on his face, he sits on his

board and waits for Danny Dolphin.

“Tow me out again please Danny.” He calls out as Danny arrives. “I want to catch a few more while the swell is still with us.”

“No problem Joe.” Danny replies as he swims alongside. Joe reaches out and takes a good grip on his dorsal fin. Danny swims slowly at first and then picks up speed, easily pulling Joe out to the end of the reef, past the fast breaking waves.

Danny loves swimming with Joe around the reef

and often surfs the endless waves to the beach with him. Sometimes the rest of the dolphin pod joins them, which inevitably leads to a race to get the most waves. Danny likes to show off his wave riding skills, especially if Dolly and Molly Dolphin are watching.

Surfer Joe & Danny Dolphin enjoying some stoke…

Danny suddenly leaps out the water, right over

Surfer Joe, landing with an almighty splash on the face of the wave. It’s his favourite manoeuvre. Joe laughs and tries to mimic him, going for huge airs, landing them easily on the crest of the wave.

Joe always rides the waves successfully because he

carefully selects each wave that he wants to ride, fully aware of the dangers and the awesome power of the majestic ocean. The loyal dolphins are there to save him though, just in case anything ever goes wrong.

Joe also likes to don his snorkel and goggles and

free-dive on the reef near the island with all his marine friends to explore the secret caves and inspect the colourful coral that covers the reefs.

Sometimes there are sick fish and even whales that need attention. Whenever this happens, Joe calls on Soulman to help out and use his special healing powers to heal all the sick and injured marine animals.

In this way Joe’s always available to help his many aquatic friends. This also helps Joe spiritually as all the good he does everyday helps him to earn his daily spiritual manna.

Skater Eddie and Tomboy Tami watch Joe and Danny from the beach. As usual it’s a beautiful sunny day with just a light offshore wind caressing the ocean. Tami

kneels down and starts waxing her surfboard. She’s been at the Spiritual Centre all morning as it was her turn to clean up and water all the beautiful plants and flowers kept in and around the centre. Everybody takes a turn to maintain the holy shrine.

Tami particularly enjoys spending time at the centre because it gives her a chance to practice her Hula dances in secret. Tami loves to dance. She earns her spiritual manna from doing special Hula dances.

Tami dancing the Hula with the elves and fairies…

Sometimes she goes to the forest and dances with the elves and the fairies. They also love to dance and

spend hours with Tami inventing new dances. Together

they often put on special dance routines at the communal fire camp located in the centre of the village. Everybody in the village turns up to watch the spectacular shows.

Tami is cute. She likes to hang with the boys and loves to dance the ‘Kahuna Hula’ whenever there’s a party, which is rather often. Tami is often on the beach having fun.

Tami watches Joe as he takes off on yet another wave and rides it to the shoreline with Danny Dolphin.

“Looks too good out there Eddie, I’m going to join them. The waves are just my size!” Tami exclaims excitedly, throwing the leftover wax block into her bag as she picks up her board.

“Enjoy it Tami. I’m going for another skate in the park. I’ve got some new tricks to try out. See ya later.” Eddie replies.

Picking up his skateboard, he turns and walks off towards the skateboard park further up the beach.

Skater Eddie is renowned for his skateboard

riding ability. Whenever he rides his board at the park, an audience soon gathers to watch him. Eddie doesn’t mind. It’s actually good for him as it forces him to try harder and do even more awesome tricks. He’s hip and ripping and always super cool. Sometimes Eddie speaks in rap, especially when he’s excited.

The skateboard park consists of a series of

obstacles perfectly designed for doing tricks and special manoeuvres. Some of the other animals from the island are already riding their skateboards around the park as Eddie arrives.

He immediately jumps onto his board and hits the

half pipe, driving hard down through the bottom and out over the top, performing his normal routine of sensational tricks to the amazement of the audience. They clap enthusiastically whenever he lands a particularly difficult manoeuvre.

Skater Eddie enjoying some air time…

Eddie’s main activity on the island is to look after

the environment and care for everything. This is how he

earns his manna. His favourite pastime is to climb up Kahuna Mountain and gaze out over the island. From this vantage point he can see the entire island on all sides.

Occasionally the eagles join him. One of his best friends is Ollie Eagle. Ollie uses his massive wing span to fly over the island and check on things for Eddie. If there’s a fire somewhere or an avalanche or some trouble happening then Ollie easily spots it with his keen eyesight and reports back to Eddie.

Sometimes Eddie dons his sky diving gear and joins Ollie for a soaring ride around the cliffs, lost in the rise and fall of the spirals of wind that carry them around and around until they gently land on the ground at the foot of the mountain.

Foxy Lady as usual is having fun on stage with her

band. The band prefers rehearsing during the day as they’re often called upon at night to perform for all the island inhabitants.

Foxy is hip and cool because she sings in a band. The musicians are all animals from Kahuna Island. Foxy writes all her own songs about life on Kahuna Island. Sometimes some of the other Kahuna teddies join her on stage when she performs her Kahuna island music.

Shilo Shebear recently found a whole set of traditional Kahuna songs at the bottom of her mother’s old wooden sea chest. She gave them to Foxy knowing she’d be eager to get the groove going.

The old traditional Kahuna ritual music is Foxy’s favourite. Foxy earns her manna, playing music and performing for the island inhabitants on her raised stage on the beach.

Foxy Lady and Gerry Giraffe laying into the groove…

Today is however practice day. The songs Shilo gave her are all new. The band’s never performed them before. Again and again they go through the melodies and work through the complicated musical structures

until they can play them the way she wants them to.

The band are tired after their practise session so

they retire down to ‘Da Coconut Bar’ on the beach for

some well earned ice-cold Kahuna juice.

The band consists of: Mickey Monkey on drums; Barry-D da baboon on bass; Gerry Giraffe on guitar

and Penny da Polecat on piano.

Foxy plays an assortment of instruments but her

favourites are the flute and the saxophone. When she plays, the music’s so beautiful the island birds gather to listen and often join in with their chirps and high whistles in perfect harmony.

From the bar Foxy and her band watch in

fascination as Shilo Shebear performs her sacred Kata’s

on the beach with her school of Jackass penguins. She has her own wooden platform that Skater Eddie built for her on the beach. Every day she uses the platform to perform her Kata rituals. She’s tough, a Martial Arts exponent, she takes no nonsense and loves to meditate.

Dressed in her resplendent white karate Gi with

her black belt, she systematically runs through her complicated Kata moves with the penguins. Afterwards they do a yoga routine and then conclude the session by sitting in a circle for meditation.

“Doing Kata’s increases your spiritual awareness and

prepares you for meditation.” She lectures to the

breathless penguins as they spin and reach for the sky, completing almost impossible moves, jumps and sharp pointed kicks against invisible enemies.

Shilo releasing an ultra energy kick…

Shilo uses her meditation period to spread goodwill and positive energy vibrations for all the island inhabitants.

It’s also her way of gathering spiritual strength and earning her daily manna…
