Frosty Ballet
You start so subtle
One glorious flake floating
Dancing in the November wind
Detoune to soutenu I watch your frosty ballet
Until you gracefully hide yourself beneath the still visible grass
I wait in anticipation, pleading with the sky for more
One by one you taunt my eagerness
Slipping quietly between branches and uncovered bushes
Refusing to delight me with your blanket of purity
Then slowly, you build, like the rumble of thunder
Until there is nowhere else to conceal your fragile beauty
And flake by flake you intertwine
Culminating in the perfect ensemble
And my soul rejoices at the first snow of winter
