nook Mobile-Friendly Websites

Your nook can do more than read books - you can surf the Internet, check your email, play some great games, use it for grocery lists and class notes, and more. This guide is pretty simple: I show you a lot of mobile-friendly websites you can access with your Nook. Some of you may say something along the lines of "I could find all of this stuff using a Bing or Google search, so why should I pay for this short book?"
If you did say that (or thought it), you would be correct: you can, for example, do a Bing search and find lists of various mobile websites that you could then surf with your nook. However, you would have to (a) find them, (b) move from your computer to your nook, and (c) might not have all of the ones I list here. Basically, I'm asking you to pay a small fee to have them summarized in one place - one list (i.e., this eBook) that has lots of them categorized by topic that you can just open up on your nook and surf away.
However, and there always seems to be a “but” or “however,” not all websites are enabled to be viewed on a mobile device like your nook, Droid, iPhone, etc. There’s way too much stuff trying to download. That’s one of the reasons why website owners have created mobile device-friendly websites. They are designed to load fast and deliver the heart of the content you would see on a regular connection such as news stories, sports scores, hitting the Bing search engine, or whatever you may be looking for.
Some mobile sites work great, and some mobile sites leave a lot to be desired. In other words, each site is different.
Listed below are a few mobile websites for you to try out. Here’s my standard disclaimer – your results may vary depending upon the time of day, strength of your cellular signal, or if Hugo Chavez is having another of his marathon TV sessions in Venezuela (just kidding on the Hugo Chavez thing). Try them out, and see how they work for you - as of the time this eBook was compiled, each of these websites worked. However, we've all seen Internet sites come and go: if you find one that is consistently down, please let me know by shooting me an email to kindle@gagler.com
