"I refer to this as the little BIG book. Although small in size, it is big on wisdom and insight. Read it slowly and soak up the passion and energy with which it was clearly written."

"I loved the book....very sweet and packed full of good advice!”

"The old saying “go the extra mile” is very appropriate for Monika Becker – one of the few people I know who works from the heart, not the head. Her thoughtfulness and care has extended my life. After cancer and business problems adding up to stress and emotional challenges, Monika listened from the heart and worked on my body of 73 years until I was a new man! She has a unique attitude towards understanding people, and her knowledge of the profession is extraordinary. If there was ever a trophy awarded to a person who not only put her patients
first but also always goes the extra mile… value for money is an understatement.”

FOREWORD
“If you enjoy what you’re doing for a job, it’s not work”. Monika doesn’t work!
I have been “looked after” by Monika with her Tender Loving Care for several years, she is my friend and what a special lady. I met her following a business presentation I was speaking at. I received a most complimenting e-mail from her saying how my talk had inspired her to do amazing things! Her business as a practitioner in holistic healing and alternative therapies has moved to a new level. I consulted her soon after, as I was suffering the after-effects of a cancer diagnosis that led to a personal crisis also. Her “healing hands” and belief in what she does was the “jump start” I needed to get back on track and continue my own way of life - I don’t work either! Monika is a life long student, any books I have given her are read almost over night, her own library of complementary healing “stuff” is enormous and I know that she is a thinker! She says the more I learn the more I can pass on to my patients for their long-term benefit. When you are sick or ill, you see a doctor, Monika knows and teaches that prevention is better than cure, then you won’t need to visit a doctor!
Thanks Monika - I know that in my 74th year I can look forward to a longer, healthier life.

INTRODUCTION
Rest assured, this is not supposed to be yet another health bible to tell you what to do or not to do – which is where the doughnuts come in - symbolically. The key is moderation and balance. This little book is meant to help you to embark on a healthier and more positive lifestyle. I would like to take you by the hand and to point you into the right direction. To show you how to take over the responsibility for your own mental and physical health.
If you fancy chocolate for example, have some, enjoy it, and don’t feel guilty. The trick is, after your moment of indulgence, to go back on to the healthy eating regime. Craving for chocolate is quite often a sign of your body’s lack of iron, and a cry for love and affection. Yes – true. You crave for "sweetness“, you can‘t get it, so you want chocolate. Sometimes a vicious circle: You eat chocolate in excess because you don‘t feel loved, you even don‘t love yourself. You gain weight, you feel even less loved and hate yourself. That again calls for more chocolate, doesn‘t it?
My advice for the "iron-bit‘ – go for the healthier option which is non-dairy or plain chocolate, rich in iron. Did you know that 100g chocolate contains almost twice as much iron than spinach? Apart from its contents of iron, it is also a good supplier for magnesium and potassium. And – it can make you happy! The reason is that chocolate helps the brain to produce serotonin and endorphins. Serotonin is an important neuro-transmitter that helps the brain by passing on information from one nerve cell to another. This hormone influences our mood, our awake-asleep pattern and how we cope with pain.
Endorphins are our bodies‘ own “happy-go-lucky“ drugs. They have pain-killing properties and are said to have the same effect as opium!
Furthermore, dark chocolate contains flavonols – forms of flavonoids, i.e. compounds found mainly in fruits and vegetables, and have diverse beneficial biochemical and antioxidant effects – that improves blood-vessel function and can prevent blood clots.
As for the "lack of love-bit“ – the first and most important step is to learn to love yourself. Accept yourself. Okay, it is easy to accept all your positive sides. But, according to nature‘s law, where there is light there is shadow, We all know the Yin-Yang-sign – half white, half black, flowing into each other. But there is also a bit of white in the black and a bit of black in the white. That is how things work. We must learn to see the white spot in our dark side. The white spot stands for the potential to turn the black into white. Aggression, negativity, envy are in each and every one of us. The trick is to channel them, to convert them into something positive. Look at ways to express them. When you are angry, take a brisk walk round the block (don‘t run – it‘s bad for the joints!). When you are feeling down or sad, start to write or paint. Who knows, you could become a famous writer or successful artist!
Do you envy somebody? It is easy to see just the surface – “what has the other person got that I haven‘t but would like to have?” We must try and look behind the curtains. Is this other person happy? What price did they have to pay to get to where they are? Maybe they would rather have what you have! Perhaps the price was their health and wellbeing? Rather take a look at WHY you are envious. See it as a chance to make a change in your life. Don‘t forget to ask yourself why you want it – just because the other person has it, maybe? We are all unique. Therefore, we must find our own individual truth. We should not compete with others. What is right for someone else is not necessarily right for us.
Every single blade of grass,
And every flake of snow –
Is just a wee bit different…
There’s no two alike, you know.
From something small, like grains of sand,
To each gigantic star
All were made with THIS in mind:
To be just what they are!
How foolish then, to imitate -
How useless to pretend!
Since each of us comes from a MIND
Whose ideas never end.
There’ll only be just ONE of ME
To show what I can do –
And you should likewise feel very proud,
There’s only ONE of YOU.
That is where it all starts
With you, a wonderful
Unlimited human being.
(James T. Moore)
See the bigger picture – life will never face us with something we cannot solve – with the help of the Divine Spirit. We will always get what we need to take us further on our path of development. It may not always be what we want, but if we look back after a while at what we had to go through, we see that our experience was actually for our own good, and we have come out of it stronger and wiser.
Very often, it just depends on how we encounter obstacles in our way. Sometimes, we just have to change the angle of how we look at things. Here is a nice anecdote that was sent to me one day, titled:
WOW!
"Last spring I was walking in a park. A short distance ahead of me was a mom and her three-year-old daughter. The little girl was holding on to a string that was attached to a helium balloon.
All of a sudden, a sharp gust of wind took the balloon from the little girl. I braced myself for some screaming and crying.
But, no! As the little girl turned to watch her balloon go skyward, she gleefully shouted out, "Wow!
I didn't realise it at that moment, but that little girl taught me something.
Later that day, I received a phone call from a person with news of an unexpected problem. I felt like responding with "Oh no, what should we do?" But remembering that little girl, I found myself saying, "Wow, that's interesting! How can I help you?"
One thing's for sure - life's always going to keep us off balance with its unexpected problems. That's a given. What's not preordained is our response. We can choose to be frustrated or fascinated.
No matter what the situation, a fascinated "Wow!" will always beat a frustrated "Oh, no."
So the next time you experience one of life's unexpected gusts, remember that little girl and make it a "Wow!" experience. The "Wow!" response always works.”

I would like to share this little story with you. On one of "those“ days – some call it a Bad Hair Day – I checked my e-mail and, opening the file, the most lovely music started, and the screen turned into a scene showing the most gorgeous butterfly sitting on a pretty flower. Attached was a presentation telling the following story:
Once there was a man who asked God for a flower and a butterfly. But, instead, God gave him a cactus and a caterpillar. The man was sad, he didn‘t understand why his request was mistaken.
Then he thought "Oh well, God has too many people to care for“…and decided not to question.
After some time the man went to check up on his request that he had left forgotten. To his surprise, from the thorny and unsightly cactus a beautiful flower had grown. And the ugly caterpillar had been transformed into the most beautiful butterfly.
The story went on God always does things right! His way is always the best way, even if to us it seems all wrong.
If you asked God for one thing and received another – TRUST!
You can be sure that He will always give you what you need at the appropriate time.
What you want is not always what you need. God never fails to grant our petitions, so keep on going for him without doubting or murmuring.
Today‘s thorn is tomorrow‘s flower – God gives the very best to those who leave the choices up to Him.

Everything in the universe is energy. Energy is not static, can never be destroyed and works on the principle of positive and negative. None can exist on its own. Let‘s compare this energy with a pendulum. A pendulum swings in both directions, towards you and away from you – if you hold it the right way.
So, if you are going through a rough patch in your life, recall our pendulum. At the moment, it may swing away from you, but certainly it will swing back at you!
One day, a dear friend of mine gave me a "gratitude stone“. He said: "Put it in your pocket, and every time you touch the stone, think about the things you are grateful for.“ It is just a simple but pretty pinkish pebble he found on a beach. He said, he was thinking of me when he found it among all the other pebbles, so this made "my“ pebble special. Well, females do not often have pockets – unlike most men whose pockets are literally bulging with the contents and make them look like Skippy the Kangaroo with a dislocated pouch. I‘ve got my gratitude stone on my desk. So it is always right in front of me, like in real life – the things we should be grateful for.
