A pack of North American timber wolves ran in a loose group through a heavily wooded area in Yellowstone Park. It was early fall, but already their breaths steamed in the cool of nightfall. They ran, racing the new moon. Their leader was a large male with silver-tipped, thick grey fur.

There were many packs scattered throughout the national park and surrounding area, but this pack was unique. This pack ran with a “two-legs”! In the wolves’ collective memory men had run with them in ages past, but that was many snows ago. It felt good to have a Wolfbrother again; it made them feel complete.
