“This very commendable effort by Abraham Great is an essential tool which refocuses our attention on the need to rediscover the art of word smiting! Ours is a very advanced age of communication via several technological gizmos albeit with an attendant loss of quality verbal communication. A lot of work has gone into producing this volume and there is no denying the fact that it would not only enrich your vocabulary but it would also stimulate your mind. Enjoy it!”
—REV O. AJALA, DIRECTOR OF HOLDING FORTH CHRISTIAN CENTRE, MILTON KEYNES
“If you really care about maximizing your career then you must read this book. As a career success trainer and coach I've always told my clients the importance of a rich vocabulary in the marketplace. Abraham Great has done some thorough research and highlighted 365 powerful words that can be added when engaging presidents and CEOs in intellectually stimulating conversations.
Your impact and credibility is limited by your use of words. This book not only shares these words with you but also how to use them in conversation. Grab your copy and start expanding your vocabulary. See you at the top!”
—DJ SOBANJO, LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
“Life is about good presentation of ourselves; so many of us lack it and to find someone that would take out time to help convey with ease what we want to say, we cannot get it any more easier. This book should not only be in individual hands but in schools, universities and colleges around the globe; it should become a hand book for everyone, students and professionals from all works of life.
Napoleon Hill said that “Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit” —I was moved by the level of commitment Abraham Great has paid to make this book a reality. As time differences separate us, I call most time when it will be 2am in the UK and this young man is talking to me about the next vocabulary from the beginning of the year. Well done, the world is proud of you and is awaiting more from you.”
—GBENGA OWOEYE—WISE, AWARD WINNING ARTIST AND SONG WRITER, NEW YORK, USA
“Over the years, I have often wondered why life is the way it is, why some people are happy and others not, why some appear to be successful and other not, why some people are able to articulate their thoughts easily and other struggle with finding the words. To date I seem to arrive at the same conclusion every time; life is as simple or as complicated as you make it for yourself.
However, regardless of how you choose to live life, one thing is certain, for as long as you are alive, you must be able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and non verbally. This is as essential as the air you breathe and the blood that runs through your veins. Some people have recognised this fact and have chosen to tread the path of seeking the knowledge and acquiring the skills of how to achieve this goal.
One such man is Abraham A Great. It gives me great joy to see the transformation of this young man; one who is very passionate about his beliefs, his family and his quest for a successful life. Over the last two years Abraham Great has embarked on a journey that has helped him grow into a driven and focused individual. In the process he appears to have discovered the significance and power of certain key words which he shares with you in this book. These words if used in the right way could open doors and trigger certain emotions which could be advantageous to the speaker and change the dynamics of a situation positively.
If you are reading this book then well done! I believe you are about to embark on a journey that could change your life for the better and turn you into an influential communicator.
All the best.”
—MR TOLU WUSU ESQ, CHIEF EXECUTIVE, MAJESTIC DEVELOPMENTS, UK

—DEBBIE OLAYINKA, HEAD, HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, UNITED BANK FOR AFRICA (SOUTH), NIGERIA
‘Great! How are you doing?’, ‘I am blessed and highly favoured Sir!’
This is the spiritual and psychological stance that the author of this book takes even in times of great conflict. And this, in my opinion, is what makes people like him to be short, in our time. What Abraham has done in this volume, is to help his readers, especially those who feel they are ‘not competent enough,’ in terms of sentence structure, to have another go at developing effective communication skills.
This book offers a challenge to both, the proficient and non- proficient users of the English language, to push their formal and informal conversation boundaries to a new level. A friend of mine often says: “your breakthrough may just be a conversation away. ” This may sound like a dichotomy in our highly technical, global village, in which our oral interaction skills have been lessened by technology.
Today, one can do almost anything, from shopping, checking in for a flight to banking etc, without talking to anyone, yet it is an undeniable fact that there still remains a greater need for us as humans to converse and interact with on another. That is where the likes of this book comes in. This is an indispensable tool for those who want to sharpen their communication skills. Nobody delights in living with unfulfilled expectations. Thus Great, has been kind enough to pay attention to their cry for help because he, in many ways, is able to identify with their plight because of his past personal struggles, in this area.
I am so glad that at last, someone at whom life has thrown a lot of lemons has used them to make lemonade. Because that’s the only sensible thing one ought to do in a situation like that. When many others have fallen down and just played dead because they didn’t know what to do with all those lemons, Abraham Great has raised his head above the parapet to vocalise their cries for help.
To the many out there, who will have the opportunity to read this book, I can say unequivocally, that you will gain a renewed confidence in your ability to communicate with others irrespective of the environment—formal or informal. Allow Abraham, through this book to be your life coach. Don’t worry you may not learn all the vocabularies in one day, but you are already on the right path to verbal fitness.
Like any beginner, you will be stretched, both mentally and physically, because of the hours you will spend each day trying to learn these vocabularies but, to quote the words of one wise preacher: “life never gives you what you deserve; it only rewards you with what you fight for. ”
I therefore urge you to fight a good fight and if you do; I will see you at the top.

I dedicate this book to the giver of languages—God Almighty, who:
• Gave me the inspiration and enablement to put these life-transforming words into a single book.
• Breathed into us and endowed us with vocal chords for speaking various languages.
• Gave us Christ, our hope and glory.
Thank you Lord.
I also dedicate this book to my late father Rev. Joshua Olukunle Akintayo, for instilling the reverential fear of God in all his children and being a solution to community problems—Your passion for God lives on.
“If what you think is contrary to what you say then what you say will never produce the desired result.
—Dr. David Oyedepo
In 15 years of travelling extensively around the world, I have come to appreciate and love languages. I have come to understand that language is the power house and the propeller of a culture. It is the roadmap of any culture—it tells you where people are from and where they are heading to.
My next appreciation goes to all the people whom I have met in my life, whose command of the English language has continually inspired me to want to improve my English vocabulary daily. Among many of the men, I’d like to appreciate Professor Ropo Sekoni (former Vice Chancellor of University of Ile-Ife and Lecturer of the Department of African Studies, Lincoln University USA). Sir, I relish the time spent with you and the deposits you made in my life. Cecila Akintomide, now the Secretary General of the Africa Development Bank in Tunis, thanks for accepting me as your brother and making me to want to speak as well as you do.
To Rev Biyi Ajala, founder of the Holding forth The Word Ministry in Milton Keynes, UK: Thank you for accepting me as a SON, a protégé and a partner in ministry. Since I lost my much-loved father in December 2000, there hasn’t really been anyone who had liked me, understood me and accepted me like you have done. You gave me a reason to want to speak the right words at all times to depict my motives and intentions. Like my late father, you sometimes speak with me with a dictionary, because you want me to get the point.
I recall that as a teenager my late father, Rev. Joshua Olukunle Akintayo, mandated me to read a newspaper daily. This, in his opinion, would help my proper use of the English language. This strategy proves to be true as it gave me a brighter idea of how the world speaks. I am eternally grateful to you for what you gave your children and many other children; an inheritance and the fear of God. Daddy, as I type this, I am battling with tear drops. We, your children really love you and I thank you for not allowing the doctors to pack me up as a dead boy in 1990. You stood your ground that I was not dead, and truly your boy lives on—May your soul be in perfect PEACE
I would like to appreciate my mother, Abigail Akintayo, for your continuous love and prayer chains for your children. Thank you. My brother, King, a co-author and a dynamic song writer, your album keeps me inspired as I write in my studies. I love you and all the rest of you, Elizabeth, Taiwo and Maria.
My friend Dimeji Israel-Olayinka, your focus and dedication to your dream lifted me; you are probably the best believer in me. Thank you for always helping me maintain focus on what I can do rather than what I cannot do. Every time you tell me that I am good, it sounds like a thousand part harmony to me because I know it must be true as you are a man of excellence. Thank you.
To Dr. Alex Phiri, one of those men in my life who has never lacked a brilliant expression in words and in homiletics, you are a divine inspiration and a role model. You are a father with great feathers and you are a mentor with a perfect love.
When anyone has a dream, if the dream is worthwhile, it will usually be bigger than the dreamer. Olusegun Iselaiye, you are truly a Godsend in my life to interpret my dream. Your ability to understand any dream and interpret it is commendable. You are a rare gem.
From the late 90s until now, one man whom I have continually respected and love to listen to talk is former Prime Minister Tony Blair. Your lucidity, articulacy and clarity of speech easily makes me get the point, no matter how complex the subject matter is. Thank you for being a person of influence to the world.
To the Queen of England, whose phonetics and use of English have become most embraced and used around the world, I want to say thank you for being our Queen—God bless the Queen.
I appreciate my mother in-law, Adejoke Jacob-Israel, because you were with my family when I conceived the idea of this book, and you were the first person besides my wife to accept this idea and you invested in it. Your prayers over our lives will not be in vain.
Dr. David Oyedepo, your influence over my life and family is unequivocal. You are a man to be researched and follow pedantically. You are a man to be emulated and observed. Thanks for loving, instructing, and influencing us. Daddy, we love you.
Pastor David Oyedepo (Jnr), your mentorship is divinely timed in my life and has yielded fruits from day one. You carry a unique grace and one advice from you can save years of struggle.
To every co-labourer and volunteers at Gr8terworks, I am very grateful for what you have meant to this God-ordained mandate. Your names are forever written in the book of life as you have helped in birthing this ministry. Sarah Ani-Adjei, Dimeji, Sunday & Esther Fapohunda, Tom & Marge—I believe that greater works than this shall you do. Your labour and voluntary efforts are really paving way for the move of God.
Pastor Sola & Tumise Ewedemi, God strategically positioned you in my life as a prophetic signal to locate what was lost in my life. Thank you for touching my family and influencing my future.
Tolu Wusu, you are a brother and a helper of destiny, a good example and a hard thinker. You are a serious and meticulous person to emulate. You have influenced me.
Finally, to Queen Great, my wife, my love, my sister and my helper—Your love and support to me since I met you have brought me this far. You, truly, are strong, powerful and creative. Thank you for taking care of me and our three boys, Darren, Dexter and Divine. I love you.
I have mentioned this many people because I know and I can affirm that every successful person is a culmination of people. If you must succeed, you need people. I have come this far with these people by my side.
Thank you all.
—Abraham Great
The power of vocabulary in a man’s life is immense. Through our vocabulary we either make a friend or an enemy, whether it is known to us or not. Similarly and somewhat arguably, the heights—in terms of career, social status and general success—we attain in life are largely determined by our vocabulary.
I remember that in my school days we rated our teachers by their respective abilities to speak what we called “foné” in my dialect. We carved the term “foné” from the English word ‘phonetics’. Therefore, any teacher that fell short of our standard would then have him or herself to blame because we would attach a label of ridicule to his or her personality.
Each time you talk to people, the manner in which you choose and use your words tells them so much about you. It tells them about your kind of person, taste, character, temperament, intelligence quotient, and many more things about you. As a matter of fact, the appropriate level of criticality should be attached to your choice of vocabulary. They determine what people say about you. Your vocabulary represents you in people’s minds.
What keeps amazing me is the outcome of some vocabularies study that revealed that a powerful vocabulary is directly linked to success, status, and income. Does that make some sense to you? Really, it should make sense, real good indeed. For instance, someone who is fond of directing all sorts of disparaging remarks at people cannot never ever attain the heights of the likes of President Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, or any other great leader. And the reason is simple; people do not want him or her because of the unwholesome language that he or she speaks.
Abraham Lincoln used his vocabularies to right many wrongs in his days. That ability prepared fame and greatness for him. I got attracted to Obama, just like many others, from the day he gave that wonderful 2004 Democratic Party convention speech in Chicago. My deep observation of his speech gave me better insight to vocabularies. His eloquence coupled with his uncommon ability to brew constructive words will always leave lasting effects on people.
What Experts Say About Vocabulary and Success:
"English vocabulary level has been shown to be strongly related to educational success. In addition, it is related to the level of occupation attained".
—Bowker, R. (1981).
"A rich vocabulary is a valuable asset and an important attribute of success in any walk of life.”
—Elley, W.B. (1988).
"An extensive knowledge of the exact meanings of English words accompanies outstanding success in this country more often than any other single characteristic we have been able to isolate and measure"
—O’Connor, J. (1934)
This is why this book is a MUST for YOU!
This is the book that can bridge the gap between quality and life. This book was produced because I have seen the huge impact vocabularies can make between the quality of life and calling. A man’s vocabularies can make or mar his existence and ultimately his calling.
And with this book, you’ll ultimately build a great and exciting line of vocabularies that will give you another life—full of respect, and all that is associated with greatness.
The greatest self investment you can make is to spruce up your vocabulary. But quite sadly, according to some research, an average adult in the UK and perhaps the other parts of the world only learns about 25 new words per year. With this book, you'll easily learn 7 new words per week. This is the surest way to learn 7 x 52 new words in a year! That is, for 52 weeks that make a year, you’ll learn 365 new words.
