“I can’t believe you talked me into this.”

Kate shook her head, her blonde hair swishing as Lauren and Jessica giggled. “What, suddenly you’re too mature for us, Katie?”

Wrinkling her nose at the nickname, Kate stuck her tongue out at her two best friends. “I think most people would agree that eighteen is just a bit too old for a sleepover,” she replied. Jessica snorted as she rolled out her sleeping bag.

“Come on, Kate,” Lauren sat on the bed, pretending to pout. “You know this is our last chance to get together before Jess and I head off to college. We’re going to be separated by hundreds of miles and you know you’ll miss us then!”

“But why a sleepover of all things?” Kate complained. “Why couldn’t we hit the clubs? I was hoping to pick up tonight.”

“Tonight is just about us.” Jessica stretched out on her sleeping bag, her pyjama top riding up to expose the smooth, dark skin of her midriff. Kate watched her lithe form keenly. “I suppose it mightn’t be so bad…”

“Now you’re getting it!” Lauren bounced onto her knees, the oversized t-shirt she was wearing brushing against her thighs. “Remember how much fun we had at our sleepovers when we were kids? We’d stay up all night talking about boys, doing each others hair, playing truth or dare…”

“Practicing our kissing on each other,” Jessica continued with a wink. Lauren blushed bright red and Kate raised an eyebrow, rolling out her own sleeping bag.

“Well, when you put it that way,” she said with a grin. “I suppose I can suffer through one night with you two.”

She shrieked as they pounced on her, squealing, hugging her tight. Unable to keep her balance, she tumbled backwards, dragging them with her in a flurry of limbs and bare skin. It took a moment for them to untangle themselves and Kate took the opportunity to enjoy the closeness of her friends’ bodies before propping herself up on her elbows.

“So what shall we do first?” she asked mockingly. “Paint our nails or braid each others hair?”

Lauren and Jessica glanced at each other before turning back to Kate sporting matching grins. “Why not both?”

Before she could move, they had pinned her to the floor, giggling all the while. Jessica sat on top of her, holding her down while Lauren rummaged through her make up drawer. A shiver of excitement ran through her as Kate looked up at them from her captive position. “Please… be gentle with me!”

Jessica smirked at her, a mischievous gleam in her eye. “Don’t worry,” she said, fingering a tendril of Kate’s hair. “We’ll save the rough stuff for later.”
