My first clue should have been when I first came to work for Mr. Simon three months ago, and learned that his last assistant had left suddenly. No one would tell me why, and Mr. Simon was always a gentleman and a professional working with me...at first.

After a few weeks, everything changed. Mr. Simon was under a lot of pressure with a big deal looming, and I heard through the grapevine that he was having problems at home. Whatever it was, his lunches were getting longer and boozier, and the things he said to me after those lunches got naughtier. I can have a pretty thick skin when I feel like it, and I really needed the job, so I just let it roll off my back. He made it clear that his words weren't the only thing he wanted to see rolling off my back.

For example, one evening recently I was working late, pulling together a presentation, and Mr. Simon breezed into the office after dinner out with some investors. The office was deserted save for maybe a dawdling IT goon well-hidden in some other corner of the suite, and half the overhead lights were out. When I heard the elevator I practically jumped out of my skin. But it was just Mr. Simon, flushed from drinks and the warm summer night, his jacket and tie slung over his arm and his shirt one-third unbuttoned. He had a to-go box in his hand.

"Ashley!" he called out to me, jogging over with a lazy stride. "I brought you dessert."

"Oh! Mr. Simon! I didn't expect you back."

He came to a stop just a little too close, slinging his jacket and the to-go box onto my desk. For a moment I thought he was going to lean down to kiss me! I pushed back my chair and leaned into a stretch, my heart beating faster than I would have liked.

"I'm almost done here." I said, gesturing at the screen.

"Let's take a look!" he said, throwing his arm across the back of my chair and bending to look at my screen. Or down my shirt. Probably both.
