It was a beautiful, warm and sunny summer’s day at the Calgary Zoo. There were hippopotamuses, lions, bears, polar bears, elephants, chimpanzees, gorillas and tigers.

In one cage there were three chimpanzees. There was a mommy, daddy and baby chimpanzee. The baby’s name was Charlie, the mommy’s name was Carmen and the daddy’s name was Darren.

In another cage there were three lions. There was a mommy, daddy and a baby lion. The baby’s name was Lionel, the mommy’s name was Linda and the daddy’s name was Leo.

In another cage there were three tigers. There was a mommy, daddy and a baby tiger. The baby’s name was Tammy, the mommy’s name was Tina and the daddy’s was Thomas.

In the other cage there were three hippopotamuses. There was a mommy, daddy and baby hippopotamus. The baby’s name was Harry, the mommy’s name was Henrietta and the daddy’s name was Horris.

In the other cage there were three bears. There was a mommy, daddy and baby bear. The baby bear’s name was Alexander, the mommy’s name was Amanda and the daddy’s name was Arthur.

Other cages had polar bears, elephants, gorillas and seals. The polar bears names were Peter, Paula and Pamela. The elephant’s names were Elenora, Evan and Ethan. The gorilla’s names were George, Gina and Gregory. The seals names were Sammy, Sarah and Suzanne.

One day when it was raining and no one was outside, Charlie asked his mommy and daddy where they came from. His parents told him that they came from a jungle in South Africa, and they were put in the zoo to protect them from being hurt by mean people.
