Sixteen days and four hours had passed since Damon had been turned, and he was still a mess. His mind was constantly flooded with thoughts of his family, his friends, and, for some reason, his dog. He wondered how their grief was developing, how they were getting along without him, under the impression that he was irrevocably dead.

Clearly, that was not the case.

The car accident had been brutal, true, but it was being wrenched from the car like a newborn from the womb—rudely, suddenly, screeches drowning out his pain and confusion—that was the real issue. The fact that his new “family” hadn’t even asked—just swooped down like vultures and sunk fangs into his neck with the assumption that he would be grateful--created a fury that boiled in his chest.

You were as good as dead anyway,” Leon spat.

Damon remembered his head spinning in fear.

Count yourself lucky, kid. If you hadn’t had such a pretty face I might not have saved you to begin with.”

His fists clenched in residual anger. Leon. Who the hell did he think he was? Damon was only 18, with a family that still loved him, friends who still cared about him. He hadn’t even moved out yet. His family deserved at the very least to have found his broken body and grieved properly. Instead they likely were trapped in anguish, bewildered as to why his blood was spilled but his body was nowhere to be found. He was still trapped inside it, despising his unbeating heart.

Adjusting to life as a vampire was strange. Besides the fangs, there were a host of other strange traits. When he first looked into a mirror after being turned, he expected his reflection to have vanished. Instead, he was still able to see his short, black hair, and his sky blue eyes. His skin was pale now, and it was hard to make out his freckles anymore, but he could see faint reminders of splashing across his nose and cheeks.

Damon was also stronger now—unusual, because he had been small and weak his entire life. But the past two weeks had grown his body and tightened his skin. He looked as if he had put on twenty pounds of pure muscle. He had only used it once, though—and that was when Leon had attacked him just a day after he was turned. He remembered being able to force off the older man’s grip, despite the fact that Leon was twice his size. Damon still couldn’t understand why Leon had done that.

He returned to his room, and despite the fact that it was pitch black, he saw perfectly well. That was another oddity. That and living underground in the coven was strange. There were about seven other vampires living with him—all male, and all (he was reluctant to admit it) strikingly beautiful. Damon wasn’t gay, but he had difficulty denying the reality of the alluring perfection of each creature that resided in the coven with him.

Especially Leon.

Leon was nearly six and a half feet tall, with a lean, muscular body. He looked to be about twenty-six (though Damon knew he was much older), and had thick, short waves of fiery red hair and slate-grey eyes. The most striking thing about him was his smile—it was mischievous, clever, and cruel. It was, even to the teen, undeniably sexy. Damon remembered the first time Leon had smiled at him, and recalled the tremble that raced up his spine and the foreign tingle that echoed between his thighs.

Damon hissed at the thought.. He didn’t like men. But why did Leon draw him in so easily?

Damon’s door flew open, and he sat up from his bed. Leon was in the doorway.

“Get up, kid. We’re going hunting.” This was the third time Leon had tried to coerce him into hunting in the past week.

“I don’t want to.”

“I’m sick of your excuses. Get up, before I make you.”

“Screw you, Leon.”

Leon’s eyes lit up with quick rage. He was by Damon’s side in a second, grabbing his wrist, and yanking him up and dangling him above the ground. Damon winced as knives of pain shot up his arm. He struggled against Leon, but the other vampire was much stronger than he remembered.

“Go ahead and try. It’s been so long since you last eaten you don’t have a chance. I could snap you like a fucking twig.”

“Dammit…” Damon hissed, still attempting to twist himself free.

“Let’s go. “

Leon was like lightning, outside of the coven and into the night in seconds. His feet were blurs as he pulled Damon along, deeper into the woods, the teenager struggling to keep up. As they moved, Leon looked back at him and smirked, seeming to laugh at Damon’s weakness.

“You’re pathetic,” he chuckled. Damon felt a twinge of embarrassment.

Damon yelped as he hit the cold ground chest-first. They were at a stop? He had forgotten how fast vampires travelled. Leon was tense, his eyes wide and glittering in the moonlight.

“There’s a campsite. I want you to drag one of them back here and feed for me.”

Damon was baffled. Kill another person? He glared at Leon.

“Leon, I don’t care what you want me to do. I am not going to kill someone else. I would rather shrivel up into nothingness.” As he said this, he felt his body ache as he smelt the fresh blood pumping through the veins of the humans close by. Leon laughed.

“Another… another person? Are you serious?! Damon, listen to me,” he sneered, grabbing Damon by the neck and pulling him close, “you aren’t a human. You are a vampire now. They are your prey. Kill them.” Leon’s face was extremely close, his breath hot against the teen’s neck. Damon shivered underneath Leon’s grasp, feeling a warmth growing between his legs. His mind reeled in confusion. The worst part was that Leon could tell.

“Oh? What’s this, kid…? Something... wrong?” His tongue lightly pressed against Damon’s jaw.

“Fuck you, Leon! Let go of me!”

Leon cackled.

“No, Damon… I think I’d rather fuck you.”

The boy grunted as his body was shoved up against a tree. He could feel the jagged bark poking into his back. Leon was staring at him, grinning widely, fangs gleaming.

“What the fuck?” Damon gasped.

“Such a pretty boy…” Leon cooed, running a finger along Damon’s cheek. Damon was now acutely aware of Leon’s other hand, holding him against the tree by his neck. “Why do you think I was so generous in the first place? You’re exquisite…”

Damon squirmed as he struggled to move. It was impossible. He felt Leon’s lips on his neck and he called out. Leon squeezed his neck, stopping his cry in his throat.

“Don’t struggle… it’s useless. I’m ten times stronger, faster, and more experienced than you. I always get what I want. And I want you.”

The teenager’s mind was screaming. He didn’t want this, he didn’t want this at all. He wasn’t gay. He was still a virgin. His hatred for Leon blazed—he didn’t want this man to be his first. The harder he struggled, the more painful it was to move. Leon’s nails were digging into his throat, threatening to draw blood. A tongue darted out across his neck, dragging across his jaw and up to his ear. Bile rose from his stomach. He groaned. Anything but this. Trapped in the darkness under the claws of the man who ruined his life, weak, hungry… and the worst part was his body was disagreeing. Leon nibbled his ear, and a jolt of electricity ran through his body. He felt every nerve stand on end, heat building in his crotch.
