Chapter One
Today should be the best day of my life. I was accepted to my dream high school where the motto is: 'Dreams do come true.' I am sad of leaving my old high school of course, my best friends were there, my awesome teachers, and I cannot forget the nicest principal ever Mrs. Claude. Of course I was scared though, today was my first day and it was only 6:47 AM. I heard a faint knock at my door, and it opened. It was Dad, of course, going to give me the 'It's okay!' speech in 3-2-1;
"Morning honey!" said Dad walking towards my bed. "I know you're nervous, but remember, i-" "It's okay." I said, cutting him off. He smiled and hugged me. "You're a big girl now, and I want you to do good okay? This high school is one of the most prestigious high schools in America!" There was literally tears in his eyes. "Dad, I know. You told me this when I was accepted in March." I said sighing. "I know... ALRIGHT! It's September 8 and school's today, so get ready." he said walking out the room. "Make daddy proud." he said as he tried to cover up his tears.
I shook my head, and got out of bed. I walked towards the bathroom, and took a quick shower. When I got out, it was 6:58. I walked towards my closet, thinking of what I should wear. I ended up putting on a white turtleneck that reached half-way to my knees, black demin jeans, and whiteUggs. I put my hair in a messy ponytail, and put on my glasses. I grabbed my bag and went downstairs.
I was greeted by the smell of pancakes and eggs. "Morning Alex!" said Mom. I entered the kitchen, and sat next to Dad, who was sipping his coffee and reading the Daily News. "Eggs are almost done, just have to make one more." she said grabbing the black pepper. "Where's Jared?" I asked Mom. "He's upstairs." she said humming a tune. "I won't have to walk him anymore, right? It makes no sense that he's older than me, and I have to do that." "Well... we never told you this but..." Before Mom could say it, Jared ran into the kitchen. "Good morning idiots!" he screamed at the top of his lungs. Mom shook her head and Dad heaved a sigh. "Hello my idiot sister! Ready to go to OUR high school?" he yelled. "WHAT?" I screamed looking back. "He goes to my high school?!" I got up at the table, glaring as hard as I could at Jared. He only returned it with a smirk. "This is going to be a great year, huh Alex?" he said laughing.
I rolled my eyes, and threw an apple that was on the table at him, which he easily dodged , and started laughing harder at me. I scowled at him, and turned around. "We're sorry Alex." said Mom and Dad at the same time. "Yeah, yeah." I said, slumping in my chair. "Breakfast is now done!" said Mom grabbing china. I heaved a sigh and glanced at the clock on the wall. 7:13. Mom called Jared to help her and he started to dish out the plates on the table. When he put mine done, he elbowed me in the stomach. I let out a low cough, and grabbed my stomach. Dad looked at me, and then Jared. "What did you do?" he asked, looking at Jared suspiciously. "H-he... elbowed me in the s-stomach." I gasped. "Jared!" screamed Dad. Jared sat down at the table as if nothing happened. "Stop bullying your sister, what's your problem?!" he scowled. "Whatever." said Jared, rolling his eyes.
Jared got away with almost everything. He was such an idiot sometimes, I just wish he wasn't my brother. I rolled my eyes at him and Mom started passing the eggs and pancakes around. I grabbed the syrup and poured it on my pancakes.
Breakfast went by fast, but time took its toll because when I was done, it was 7:46. Jared had to put his shoes on, and I was getting impatient. I really wanted to tour the school before 8:30. When he was done, we said our goodbyes to our parents and headed out to the school.
As we approached the school, we heard many chattering, and then many people came into our line of vision. It seems like nobody from my old school was here. I heavily sighed, and walked inside of the building. Jared was still on my tail which made matters worse. "Well Jared?" I sighed. "Well Alex?" he replied amused. "Can you tour on your own?" I asked, rolling my eyes. "And why would I do that?." he said smugly.
I analyzed the school's beautiful interior. The hallway walls were a light blue and the floor were a black marble. A 'Go Tigers!' sign was on the wall-- which was probably the school's basketball team. The lockers were a plaid black and light blue color. I smiled and kept on admiring the school.
"Alex." said Jared.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I turned around to see a slightly annoyed Jared.
"Done?" he said crossing his arms.
"Why does it matter..." I sighed.
He walked up to me and eyed me suspiciously.
"What I say will ALWAYS matter." he said narrowing his eyes.
"Why are you so full of yourself? There's nothing special about you." I said narrowing my eyes back.
He took a step towards me and at the same time I took a step back.
"Scared?" he said smugly.
"No, I just don't want to hurt you." I replied.
He raised an eyebrow and smiled.
"In the end, I'm always the better child and you know it."
"Last time I checked you were the mistake."
That hit a nerve because he tightened his fists and bit his lips.
"Screw you." he said angrily and stormed off.
When he turned the corner I put my hand on my chest and felt my heart pounding.
It highly upset me when Jared acted high and mighty. I sighed and walked the opposite direction. I entered a busy hallway and noticed it was almost 8:30 when I checked my phone.
"Excuse me, do you know where the office is?" I asked innocently to a random person.
"Uh yeah, down the hall, make a right, then you'll see Cafeteria 1. You'll make another right, a left, and go straight. You should see it on your right." he replied quickly.
"Thank you!" I replied dumbfounded
Okay... down the hall, make a left, wait... where's the cafeteria? Wait, NO! He said right. Ugh, this is so confusing!
"Uh, excuse me miss, are you lost?"
I turned around to see the most alluring guy ever. His eyes were a multi-shaded green-- almost a forest green yet such a docile light green, his hair was auburn yet blonde, his skin was Brazilian tan, and he had the smile that could make a girl fall to their knees. I felt my knees turn to jelly and straightened myself.
"I-I... I'm looking... I'm looking for the office." I replied confidently.
"Okay then, follow me." he said gesturing me to his side.
We both kept quiet while he guided me to the office. The only thing loud were the students in the hallway causing commotion and carrying on with their morning routine.
"So... what is your name?" he said smoothly.
"My name is Alexis Lynn Anderson, you?"
"Ethan Nathan Knight."
"Nice to meet you, Ethan."
We came to an abrupt stop. I almost tumbled over Ethan but he quickly grabbed my wrist.
"Ow, ow, ow!" I groaned touching my wrist.
"S-sorry!" he said solemnly.
"No problem..." I mumbled.
He cleared his throat and scratched the back of his head.
"Here's the office Alexis. I'll see you later."
I looked back and smiled in his direction. I then noticed someone slowly approaching me. When their figure got clearer and I saw their face, it was the one and only Jared.
"What was that?" he whispered.
"What was what?" I questioned.
"That.... that mongrel! That boy!" he said with anger.
"Oh, Ethan? He's my..."
[Flashback]
"Alex." said Jared.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I turned around to see a slightly annoyed Jared.

That hit a nerve because he tightened his fists and bit his lips.

When he turned the corner I put my hand on my chest and felt my heart pounding.
[End of flashback]
"He's my.... boyfriend." I said standing on my toe-tips to get at eye level with him.
"He's your WHAT?" screamed Jared.
The halls went quiet, and everyone turned to Jared and I.
"So tell me this, it's your first day of school, your first, and you have a boyfriend." he said flatly.
I narrowed my eyes, challenging him.
"Yep." I said popping the p.
"Are you kidding me?" he shrieked.
I raised an eyebrow and he glared at me.
"I swear you want me to kill you." he said angrily.
"Shut the fu-"
Everyone gasped, and my cheek started to burn. My eyes widened, and I started to rub my cheek.
"What were you going to say, huh?!." he spat.
I looked up at Jared with red in my eyes. I instantly swung at him as his body collided with the ground. I kept on punching his face as his blood stained my knuckles. The security guards hauled me off of him as the halls became quiet and took me to the Principal's Office. They seated me and left, idiots.
The staff watched me carefully. I walked up to the front desk, and eyed the woman that was there. She sent me nasty looks which made me want to hurt her too, but I ignored it.
"I... want my locker. I'm Alexis Lynn Anderson." I stated.
"Miss, weren't you just in a fight?" she asked pointing her pen at my knuckles.
"Yes... it was with my brother. He had no rights to slap me in the face and get away with it. Please excuse us."
She paused for a second and smiled. She nodded and typed away at her computer.
"Alright then, Alexis, one moment." she said in monotone voice.
I waited a couple of seconds until she gave me a key and lock that had the combination number wrapped in it. She also gave me a schedule, and was nice enough to hand me a baby wipe. Seems like I have ten periods. So much for a sophomore year. I thanked her and walked out of the office. There were paramedics treating Jared right outside the door. When I passed him, he was about to lunge at me when the paramedics held him down.
"YOU. ARE. SO. DEAD!" he barked.
"On the first day? Bite me." I barked back.
Jared flinched at what I said. He tightened his fists and suddenly pushed all of the paramedics to the side and had me by my neck. My glasses slipped off of my face, hitting the ground with a faint thud. Jared started throwing a couple of punches at me until I grabbed his arm and twisted it until it couldn't twist anymore. He cursed loudly as I kept on twisting, but once again, someone had to haul me away. He fell to the floor clutching his arm in agony. I picked up my glasses and glared at Jared. If he wanted to come at me, he truly failed at it.
"Come at me, bro!" I said with my arms wide open.
He gritted his teeth as he tried to slap me with his glare. I rolled my eyes, leaving the dreaded scene and walked up the stairwell until my feet couldn't go no more. I found myself on the sixth floor. I asked around for Mrs. James's class, and when I finally got there, the bell had rung right after I stepped inside. Relief flooded through me and I found myself in the back of the class.
"Hello class." said Mrs. James's smiling. "I am your ELA teacher for the semester, Mrs. James. Now listen up, in my class, there will be no gum chewing, no cell phone usage, the one mic rule abides in this room and lastly, do not test me. You can choose how this semester will end, as me your best friend or your worst enemy."
The class was silent as she looked around for any interruptions.
"Great then!" she said clapping her hands together, "Let's get started. I want everyone to write a simple five paragraphs stating what you have done over the summer. I do not want four paragraphs or that is a fail."
Chapter Two
ELA class went by faster than I though. Ms. James was so far one of the best teachers! I was disappointed when the bell rang.
"Great class Mrs. James!" I chirped.
"Why thank you Alyssa, have a good day!" she replied.
"Alexis." I said correcting her.
"Oh sorry haha, Alexis!" she said smiling and waving me off playfully.
"You too!" I replied walking out of the classroom.
I checked my schedule. It seems like I have... art next! This is the best schedule I ever had. So it says the fourth floor. I walked down two flights of the staircase and down the halls to look for the art room. Though there were many twists and turns, I finally found my way. I entered the room, and it was quite a thing! The teacher wasn't present yet, and all of the back seats were taken, so I decided to sit in the front for the class. More students came piling in one-by-one. I took out a favorite book of mine '1984' and read it.
About a good five minutes later, the door opened. The chattering stopped, and the room became silent. There were many whispers, and when I lifted my head up, my heart sank.
"Hello class." said the man flashing a known smile.
"My name is Jeremy Hunter, but you will call me Mr. Hunter. Those who call me Jeremy will have detention! Do I make myself clear?"
Many girls screamed Jeremy and I rolled my eyes. He chuckled and shook his head. I made sure to keep my head down though so I kept my glasses at eye level and covered my face with my long hair. But I'm truly confused, I mean, he finished high school last year so how was he able to become a teacher at one of the most prestigious high schools in the US? I bet your wondering how do I know this Jeremy Hunter? I don't know how he became a teacher in such a short time period, but we were dating. Not only that, we were childhood friends. When we were dating, I was a freshmen and he was a senior. I had a crush on him since I was little, but I never wanted him to know. When I found out he was a player in high school broke my heart, but it was only until I finally became an official high school student. How we broke up... was uneasy.
