WHAT DO BED BUGS LOOK LIKE

Bed bugs are six legged parasitic insects that like to feed on human blood. Bed bugs are very small in size. Their lengths range from 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch (5-9 mm) and they are usually 1.5-3 mm wide. The physical description of the bed bugs is that they are:

  • Oval

  • Flattened

  • Wingless

General Shape of a bed bug

Normally they are brown in color. However, after feeding on blood, their coloration changes from brown to purplish red. Their size and shape also tend to change after feeding on blood. After feeding they become swollen.

Bed bugs may be mistaken for other insects like booklice and carpet beetles. These tiny little creatures migrate from one place to another very fast.
