There was a loud, firm knock at the door and Kelly’s heart sank. She wasn’t expecting anyone and the massive “No Soliciting” sign across the front of the door usually kept out all but the most persistent of salesmen.
Maybe it’s a package? she thought. But she knew she wasn’t expecting any packages, either.
There was so much bad news she’d been running from that she just knew it was going to be awful if she opened that door.
Standing there in the entrance hall, fresh out of the shower and wearing nothing more than a terry cloth robe, she tried her best to keep still, hoping the unexpected visitor would just go away, but she had no such luck.
