Individuals have different expectations from their jobs. Some might look for a high salary so that they can enjoy more spending power, while others might look for security, advancing in their career or building and sustaining relations with co-workers.

It is important to understand expectations as they are the root cause for motivation among employees of an organization. A motivated workforce can give you the best performance and results.

In the 1950s psychologist Fredrick Herzberg tried to understand employee satisfaction and set out to determine the effect of attitude on motivation. He asked people to describe situations where they felt positive and negative about their jobs. He found that people who felt good about their jobs answered differently than people who felt bad about their job.

This publication will provide information on:

The Motivation-Hygiene Theory.

How to apply Herzberg’s theory.

How to be happier and more effective at work.
