Thank you to all the people who prayed for us and are still praying for us. May God’s blessings be showered on you all daily. I also know that Dad is reading this somewhere in his mansion in Heaven.

George Mensah, Missionary to the World

Suffering is a difficult subject to preach on or speak about. Like unconditional love it is a difficult subject to accept. However, at some point in our individual or family lives none are exempt from some degree of suffering. One would think the Christian believer or any-one with the call of God on his or her life would be exempt from suffering, but the contrary stands true.

About brother Saul, who became the Apostle Paul, we have this record... “this man is My chosen instrument to carry My name before Gentiles, kings, and the sons of Israel. I will certainly show him how much he must suffer for My name!” (Acts 9:15-16)

No one country or culture, developed our undeveloped, has an immunity to suffering. In my missions travels around the world from Texas to Thailand, from Sierra Leone to Sri Lanka, from China to Cambodia, Ukraine to Uganda, Venezuela to Zimbabwe, and recently to South Sudan I have both experienced and heard untold stories of suffering. But one does not have to travel far to experience suffering as Roger Colby’s book will show.

For the children of God, or the Christian believers in times of testings and trials, afflictions, sufferings --- when we find ourselves between the rock and the harsh places our focus must be on God’s wonderful provision in Christ Jesus, the provision of Grace, and on God’s end result or purpose for our sufferings. For He says that “if children, also heirs —heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—seeing that we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.” (Romans 8:17:18)
