Have you ever asked; what is the meaning of my life? Is there a good reason or a precious purpose as to why I should be here, in this place, at this time?
These are important questions that will bother us now and then; traumatic events happen and we are at a loss; or we are walking in the sunshine under a blue sky and the majesty and the wonder of nature strikes the questioning note. Is it possible to come to an understanding about these vital matters and move into a higher awareness, or is it all too much of a mystery; something that is way beyond our imagination and comprehension?
Throughout history thousands of scrolls and books have been written, with splendid hints and guidance for us to follow up on, yet, we could find that not even one of these presentations can tell us precisely what we personally need to know! Why is that? Because this vital information for living is only for the individual self to know! The answers that we need for meaning and reason in a personal life will be different for everybody; in fact, no one else will be able to tell us or even guess! Only you; yourself, will be able to access the unique particulars, because this is actually very much part of the package that is “you!”
As you can imagine, finding the specific answers will come with a considerable advantage and benefit; no doubt it will bring about confidence and joy, grace and a true inspiration! In this modern time of greater intellectual aptitude many have already discovered this higher individual awareness and are living the life they have always dreamed of. So, how can this illuminating state be found? Perhaps we should start here; consider this as a basic principle for life:
“You are here to enjoy, envisage and create a better world for yourself and others to live in. Your unique contribution will no doubt mean better health and an increase of happiness for many. You have the gift of originality within that will guide you on your way. All of the material that you need is at hand and most importantly you have a very good and vital reason for action.”
This principle shows the way! Are you not also working towards a better world through your career, personal relations and community effort? You may not consider your participation particularly valuable or notable; yet you will set an example for someone to follow! A contribution can be an encouraging word to a worried colleague, or a little extra effort into that presentation at work.
You may have entertained a child at home with an impersonation of Michael Jackson doing the “moonwalk”; you could have donated time or money to a charitable organization or you watered the garden for a neighbor in need. Little things mean a lot!
Each and every one is part of this great world complexity and betterment, no matter how small you think your contribution is! You know it is important to someone; be it a partner, neighbor, child or even a fellow commuter on the bus. Continually the situations around us will motivate us to extend our creative imagination, offering the freedom and potential to express originality. Of course, at times, there will be the personal challenges, requiring us to stretch our ingenuity and resourcefulness; but it is said that these are also the times that we learn best! Possibilities will be offered to us daily; in that way is the freedom of our original expression not a blessing of the highest order? Who else can dance like you can; who else could do that presentation with the exciting new perspective?
Many will say to create a better world is easily said, but not so easy in the practical application, because so much seems to be working against this. This is true. There is no denying that such an honorable quest will require effort; in fact for many it could be blood, sweat and many tears. Certainly for some this quest is deadly serious and dangerous, but the fundamental drive to create better will keep on happening in a multitude of small and large ways.
Look around; watch the news; check the Internet; many inspired individuals have realized their reason for being here. It can be an exciting adventure or a risky business; but who would have life any other way? It is obvious that this personal and worldly quest will keep us busy for years to come. There is a task for each and every one!
Do consider though, that your specific gift of originality and reason to live may be totally different to what you are busy with right now! Many have forgotten all of the original details, because it is easy to get caught up in the stream of busy commerce and a proud ambition. Much can be learned along the way though; even if it is only the realization that this is not where you want to be for the rest of your life! Be assured that the essential inner resource of creativity and originality can never be lost. This is what this book is all about, to find this precious gift!
Be aware though, that finding this basic resource and personal consideration to live is only the beginning of a deeper insight into the nature of reality; there is much to be said, much to be explored. Perhaps you will recognize some of the essential basics, perhaps not.
That is it, an answer to the first questions in very general terms. But, generalities are just that, generalities; broad outlines such as this typically will not be enough for the discriminating intelligence that circles the world today.
It is only natural that we will question new information or a seemingly incredible statement; to believe without proof could be considered foolish in this analytical and discerning Age. So; who better than you to assess, confirm and validate?
Consider this; we all come into this world with a natural resource that could be considered the gift of originality. This exceptionally designed resource is perfectly suited to each individual; it cannot fail to operate in all of its variety and splendor. Through this differentiation in character; habits, likes and dislikes we are constantly intrigued, motivated, inspired and yes; also annoyed, bored or irritated. We agree, approve or protest; food for thought and a new reason for action.
This innate originality could also be called the invisible chromosome or genome, undetectable by any physical instrument but subtly felt by each individual as inspiration and personal reason to live! Perhaps you have already heard of this incredible phenomenon acting on transplant recipients, as proof of its very existence.
Documented evidence can be read asserting that the essential personality traits or characteristics can be influenced and changed as part of an organ transplant process and affiliation! The personality changes with a transplant recipient may be slight or significant, proving that there is more to what can be seen or measured; that the cells of our being are comprised of more than just physiology and biochemistry! Academics have developed a theory about this that they have called cellular memory!
Some individuals have even called it a soul migration, after they discovered this remarkable phenomenon in patients. It seems that this invisible personal essence goes far deeper than strands of DNA, hereditary characteristics or other physiological aspect. Can this be considered an indication of an everlasting life?
Much has been said and written about the uniqueness of the individual and its vital importance. Most of us will have heard the quotation of Socrates to; “Know thyself” or from Shakespeare; “To be or not to be!” These quotes can be puzzling, what do they really mean? Is it to think, to reflect, or to imagine what could be? Where can such an impulse come from, if not from ourselves?
We can be assured that there can be nothing that is more important than knowing who we are or why we are! There can be nothing that is more important than tapping into our own personal creative sphere and inspiration. It is no mere coincidence for you to be where you are! Throughout all of your life special opportunities will have been presented for your participation and pleasure. Your current position yet again provides much motivation and inducement for some follow-up action!
You may be puzzled with this statement now, but wait. Soon, this amazing truth will elevate your consciousness and set you free!
Just imagine; we all live and play in a network or system that could be called a “platform of reality” or our created world. This platform or place may be somewhere in New York, it may be in and around Melbourne or it may be in Amsterdam. This is where we live, this is our world and we shape a reality daily. There is much freedom and potential in each and every moment that we live. We choose, we decide what we will do by the minute, by the hour, by the day, tomorrow and next week. The small and large decisions that we make will be subject to a natural law of continuation, or a follow up consequence.
For example; one morning you decide that you will visit a friend who lives 10 kilometers away. This determination will lead you to more decisions and reality creations; how will you travel; car, bus, or bicycle? Will you need a coat, should you take a gift?
You decide; you activate what you think best or consider most suitable. There will be the natural law of continuation and possibility; for instance, if you are driving you could experience heavy traffic or if you are using public transport the bus could be delayed. Your bicycle may have a flat tyre. This leads you on to further determination and action. Of course, the bulk of this trip and reality creation is not your doing; such as the actions of the bus driver and passengers (if you decide to take the bus) or the traffic conditions and weather; yet you will be a innovative participant in all of this worldly play and reality sphere. You, (as well as others) could alter or create a new situation at any time.
Perhaps you have never thought much about this personal productivity and choice, as a lot of these choices will naturally be made automatically and routinely; nevertheless, you can see that you have the right to determine how you will live. Keep in mind that any thought or action that you determine will automatically set off into another invisible chain of command or consequence. This is the law of nature, or the natural law of continuance. Some will know it as the law of cause and effect. This inviolable and perpetual law can also be understood as karma, or the clear and net result of some action or deliberation.
This platform of reality; this invisible network of myriad connections and continuations in which we live and play could be considered to be spiritual or divine in its nature, because of its immeasurable scope and astounding potential. It is impossible for us to envisage the enormous range of options and possibilities that may be presented to us daily and through each moment of time. We take what we need by routine or deliberated choice and individual decision. Daily and constantly our determined action activates, advances or further complicates this created reality. We do relish this freedom of personal choice! Throughout all of our life, all of any possible mood, inclination, concept, idea or inspiration could be offered and presented to us via this splendid reality system.
For instance; it is totally up to us whether we wish to work in harmony or to be a disturbing influence! We can be inspiring and motivating to others or we could be spreading terror and fear! We make the decisions, we set up a probable outcome and thus we continually provide a sound basis for our perpetual learning and development. There always will be that gift of originality or personal preference that moves with us. The constant awareness of our own intimate connection to this enormous playing field of potential and further probability will be truly advantageous, because we can then plumb our own hidden depths and follow a true personal initiative that represents the deeper and finer aspect of our self.
This is where you can truly shine; this is your strength, your special gift. You will love being involved! Your originality and unique divine connection could be by way of technical interest, the arts or philosophy. Others will be born with a musical inclination or there could be the preference for nursing, geology, computers or expressive dance.
Some will be into gardening, landscaping or architecture; some will have a deep concern about the care of animals. Yes, divinity can be expressed in many ways, it truly is in all of the work that needs to be met and dealt with. Just imagine a world with only priests and prophets, novices and nuns, ministers and saints and no one to attend to sanitation!
Remember that scenario in New York; when the garbage collectors went on strike! What a mess! Or perhaps you have seen this on the news; hospital orderlies refuse to do their duty or teachers go on strike! One occupation is as important as the other, without this necessary order and vital co-operation civilization could fail. It is essential that all worldly aspects are taken care off. Who will nurse us back to health; who will supply the material and lay the bricks to build the new house? Who has the design for the next bridge in mind, who will research and write the next book?
Through this wonderful freedom and immense array of individual preference for creative expression our world is undoubtedly becoming more colorful, interesting and intriguing by the minute of each and every day. Our unique and imaginative intelligence will continually evolve as it meets up with new situations and new challenges. An original interest could branch off into other ideas or into other formulas for success; this is our life, we determine what suits us best.
Consider that for any particular inspiration and a personal expansion of ideas we draw on only a minuscule amount of this highly charged divine potential. We will have all or more than we need at the time, which of course will suit the work or the question that we have in mind. This, for many as yet undiscovered “resource or reality pool” is likely to be hotly debated.
Even though we have been given much vital information through our early learning, this individual and confidential relationship to the divine will mostly have been brushed aside or interpreted as a fantasy or sheer nonsense. Yet, were most of us not thrilled to think that there could be such a thing, as we considered some of the amazing prophecies and sacred words?
Nature is resplendent in her gifts and can be seen as a constant resource for new development, adjustment and adaptation. We are no different, sensitive to the influences that are all around us, adapting our method of operation as time and situation demands. We only need to read or listen to the news; there will be the daily surprise of new modifications and change. What will be the next discovery or provocation for a better life?
Remember that much work needs to be done; it is only natural that there will be the challenging episodes; all will give rise to further progress and evolvement. Keep in mind that the constant renewal and improvement of reality has only come through a unique effort and determination! Think of Alexander Graham Bell, who discovered and patented the telephone or Thomas Edison, who worked hard on producing an electric light bulb! Consider the use of the computer chip, the setting up of “face book”!
At any time a natural inclination will have been followed up and a personal dream realized for one tenacious individual! Does that not sound inviting? Can you not feel that deep passionate stirring of your own deeply held originality and reason to live? Be assured that your original contribution is as important as any other; in fact; you may be the instigator for a brand new discovery merely through posing a difficult question. It happens all the time!
Can you consider that life on earth is but an evolutionary process for each of us in magnificent proportion? We build on history and a basis of previous experience and application. Naturally and interestingly enough there always will be a challenge to test a unique expertise and skill, thereby causing the continual expansion of ideas and further innovation. Coupled with this will also be the continual elation and joy of progress and improvement! Who has not celebrated a brand new discovery or promotion? Who has not been delighted and wonderfully entertained through our modern technology! Where did it start? With one determined individual!
So, how can we find this invisible genome or gift of originality that we each possess? This may come as a pleasant surprise because this most valuable source of inspiration is located within our own heart, within our own life system! As mentioned before it has been mysteriously perceived by some transplant recipients, where a new input will have caused some surprise! Be assured though that it is a very subtle thing; it can be muted and easily ignored. Some people have called it the whispers of the heart or the voice of intuition; it is a detection or sensation of a quiet inner voice.
It has also been sensed as a bold directive or warning when a life was in danger; you may have heard of this happening when people have been on the brink of suicide, a near drowning, or in another life threatening situation!
It is more than an instinct or a feeling of a sixth sense and clairvoyance; more than the voice of conscience or a premonition! In fact, there can be nothing more important or wise that can be consulted at any time! It will have saved many a life, with some sound advice or a wake- up call! This perceptive silent voice is the original formula for success; it will always be committed to a personal happiness and an expansion of creative capabilities. It will prompt us in times of need, it will remind us of the things that we value and enjoy most!
There may be some hesitation and confusion about all of the foregone information. It is right to question an intimate disclosure such as a quiet voice within, because is it not true that schizophrenics have complained about directions or voices in the head? Some of us may have heard that Jack the Ripper was a murderer purported to be guided by an inner voice! Supposedly there was also Don Quixote, the chivalrous knight, charging windmills, imagining them to be ferocious giants. Weren’t they acts of madness spurred on by an inner voice? How can we trust such a thing?
Intelligence and reason must rule. Would you go off challenging and chasing windmills? Do you wish to murder and mutilate? In that way we must trust our own instinct, our own reasonable and intuitive understanding. There is no doubt about this all important fact, one does need to be discriminating and discerning with any impulse, any thought or any perceived direction! Good common sense must prevail; we do know what is right and what is wrong. The quiet inner voice is the expression of love, creativity and survival. We can be thankful that we have our own fine attunement or filtering system, as well as a logical and practical intelligence. Sure, there can be a time when this perception is damaged, through poison, drugs or another extreme influence, but naturally we are talking here about normal healthy individuals. This quiet intuitive directive may not be talked about, because it is so personal, but many know of this divine and practical guidance. Be assured that it feels right to be sensitive and to be responsive to the inner creative need.
Perhaps this question needs to be asked; “How did our modern prophets tune in to their personal inspiration; how did they come up with the amazing books and positively enlightening theories? What was the way they received the information that was so badly needed; will they dare to speak this truth?” We surely do need to get to the bottom of this fundamental and mysterious matter. Was it not through their attunement and sensitive perception? If you are still not sure, perhaps you will agree that the only possible way to test the honest truth of this divine connection will be through a personal contact and experience.
If you have “heard” it, or if you have personally perceived or sensed it, how can it be denied? Consider that the personal spiritual connection has always been there, as part of our growth and development. Throughout the Ages numerous scriptures and revered interpretations have been proclaimed for our spiritual and divine guidance.
They may not seem to have much in common, yet, if we take a closer look we will discover that great truths and true divinity have been revealed in all or most of any human spiritual development; no matter what culture it sprang from or what interpretation it was given.
Examine the basic principles and doctrine; what is and will be the proving factor in all of this personal belief and spirituality? What is and must be the very basis of any conviction? Yes, it is and can only be; through our very own personal and inner experience! Has it not been the answer to our prayers; a miraculous recovery where we thought there was no hope, a lifeline when near drowning, or some other amazing happening?
Miracles like this will have proven our allegiance in the past; has this not happened all over the world? Have we not been astounded at how these amazing events have occurred at times? What was the likelihood, what were the real chances? With this definite proof we can only conclude that this divine guidance and potentiality has always been a reliable basis and support for our existence! We can safely assume that an inner voice, miracles, visions and prophetic dreams will have been presented and interpreted under many different names and guises all over the world. The diversity of cultural influences will have played a great part in the telling, as will have been the leading personalities at the time. Does that not make good sense?
We are at the beginning of a New Age, a new consciousness, with many a startling discovery and much that needs to be further investigated. The time has come to shift our perception into a new, clearer, much finer awareness. Are you prepared to face up to a new reality? Are you all set to examine and investigate what you have gathered and stored in your “private conscious sphere” over the years? Are you ready to discover your own gift of originality? No doubt, it will surprise you!
You may not think this very private and personal investigation important. Perhaps you say you couldn’t be any happier today, so why bother? You may be busy; there may be other pressing business right now, but if you are not able to do it now, do it later.
Do this vital research, anyway that you can, because it can and will be a true eye opener for a new creative performance and personal fulfillment. With only a little effort this could be the most exciting phase of a brand new life and heightened consciousness; because surely you will agree that there can be nothing greater than working with your own legitimate heart’s desire! What is it that you were born to do? Dare you look? A new tomorrow beckons. Let’s find that “slumbering reason to be” for ourselves!
Exercise 1. What do you think?
To start the process of discovery we must first connect up with the conscious thought process. Where do your thoughts come from? Do you seem to be set in “your way?” Perhaps you have typically pre-determined how to perceive and handle certain events and situations? A very useful exercise will be to consider your day today;
1. What were your first spontaneous thoughts when you got up? Were the thoughts and mood that you perceived in the morning sustained throughout the day? Did you make that personal determination or did it just happen?
2. How much did the outside influence affect you, such as the mood of your partner or listening to music, perhaps missing a bus or train? Did you stress over the traffic or over an event or situation at work? What were your actions and re-actions to that particular circumstance? Was this helpful in this scenario? Did it make you feel good, bad or indifferent?
3. It is important that you go over your personal sequence of the day’s events. Take some time to write this in a journal or diary, for your own personal use. Even if this is something that you do not ordinarily do, try making a few brief notes for your own deeper insight.
4. You are in charge, your expression and behavior will be the key to discovering the original gift or preference. You have helped to create the day’s events; your participation will have made a difference. Jot down what you know of this, or what you perceived.
5. Know that this written assessment is for your eyes only.
6. Do not immediately make hasty assumptions on a particular mood and manner. You are a wonderful being, with a remarkable and unique intelligence. No one else will have exactly the same qualities or that particular mix of talents and abilities.
