To my parents, the late Kate Lillian Williams and Perry Williams, Sr., it is my prayer that this book honors your memory. I miss you and I love you.

Acknowledgements

I would like to thank my family and friends who were the first to read the manuscript in its infancy stage. To my sisters Sharon and Kathy and my daughter Shawnequa, thank you for your unselfish encouragement and input after the first read. It is because of you that this book is better than I ever could have imagined.

You not only encouraged me while I pursued a dream that God has placed inside of me, but you also encouraged me to dream big. You have embraced this vision whole-heartedly and for that I am grateful. And to my Shawn, Shawn thanks for every time I asked you to read (almost) every revision and for those reluctant yes’s, although I know that you support me in whatever I pursue for the sake of the Kingdom. (Always a Kodak moment with you—smile.)

To my cousin Joi, the captain of my personal cheerleading team, thank you so much for the Rah, Rahs and those excited Yeaaaaaahs. Your excitement and energy pushes me to no end. I know with you in my corner I can reach unimaginable heights!

To my sisters in Christ, Loretta Prince and Lenore Watson, I thank you for participating in the reading of Help! The Devil is After My Faith! Your commitment and eagerness to be a part of this book development meant a lot to me. Rejoice that you can take credit for taking this book on its journey to the nations. Dreaming Big!

To my Spiritual Father, Bishop Hezekiah Xavier Walker, I thank you so much for your unrelenting preaching to your children in the Gospel. You have taught us to lay hold of our destinies for the up-building of the Kingdom of God. It is because of you that I find myself in pursuit of my destiny. Hearing you preach “Kingdom” on Sundays and Tuesdays, I can almost always expect God to use you to continue to place another prophetic piece of the puzzle towards my destiny through the preached word of God. You not only preach with conviction, but you are also an example of someone whose feet are set upon the path of his own destiny. Thank you for your demonstration of excellence through hearkening to the voice of God. All I can say is “WATCH GOD.”

Introduction

On February 2, 2004, I was walking home from the bus stop after working the graveyard shift, and I felt a strong presence of God with me. I was walking down the block to my house, and I was aware of God’s presence every step of the way. I had reached the steps to my house and then proceeded to put the key in the key hole. I opened the door and walked into the vestibule. I then inserted the key to my apartment door and entered in. As soon as I placed my keys upon the mantle in my kitchen—before I could take my coat off—the Spirit of the Lord, through the prophetic voice of God said,

For these are the days of trials and many temptations that are on the rise to cause my people to be displaced from me, but be of good cheer, for I have overcame the world. For evil has progressed, but be of good cheer, it’s going to take revelation from me to recognize where you are positioned in me. So abide in me, for the gates of hell cannot prevail over a revelation from me.”

I was in awe! Yet, I did not know at that time the purpose for this Word being released from heaven (for we know in part). Although time dictates that we serve a purposeful God who does not say, nor does anything, for the sake of speaking outside of purpose. I could only pray that I truly had an ear to hear what the Spirit wanted to say to His Church.

I was to take vacation back in October of 2004 around Halloween; so when Holy Spirit laid it on my heart to write a book about faith, I thought “Good, I’m off at the end of the month and that would be an opportune time to begin writing.” Unfortunately, at the time, I had forgotten all about the word that God had spoken just eight months earlier when I began to write. One day I was going through one of my prayer journals, and that is when I stumbled upon it—divinely, I’m sure. That was on January 9th of 2006 when I read this particular journal. And I thought, oh my God, you spoke this word about trials and temptation with this book in mind and that blew me away. It was at that moment when I saw the purpose as to why this particular Word was spoken. God the Father wants to release one of His many revelations that will bring a furtherance of understanding about trials and temptation to His people.
