The Master & The Slave tells the story of a man in search of his soul. In a night of extravagance and drunk driving, his car hit something - or someone. Not knowing what it was, he kept it a secret; but not without the guilt cutting away at his conscience, affecting his mind and concentration. Eventually shunned by his so-called friends and lovers, he hit the deepest bottom when the stock market (Board of Life) crashes, losing all his wealth.
The man then seeks a Master in the desert (Afghanistance) to look for the secret of regaining his existence, and transforming himself from the slave of material, to master in life. This is an account of his spiritual journey.
I
I'm on the
road to Afghanistance
Where the mountains fold, but only from a
distance
Come dark, I’ll have no sight
Tis’ my journey to
find the Light
I was
told, in the folds live a Master
Among the ruins a courage he
muster
Lives like a king, alone but wise
Unlike a pauper in a
crowd of vice
In the
throngs of the ignorant looking for riches
On the streets of
greed, full of leeches
Up above I looked at the moving
indices
It’s the board of Life, I’ve judged amiss
II
As I go
deeper and deeper into the mob of sand
My feet sink deeper into
the anonymous land
My thirst by now can’t remember
itself
Consumed by the task of the Knowledge delf
I hear a
bird crying in the distance
A scavenger I bet looking for
sustenance
On a bony creature I doubt delectable
Exposed in the
open on the desert table
With naked
feet, I surrender my Will
To the thoughts of Self, and its bitter
pill
If survival reigns, and my destination arrived
Prayer
answered, and my Soul revived
With flesh
and bone, that’s all I’ve remained
A walking prayer, with a
little hope sustained
Over the sky, the crying Joves near
And
for the first time, for My life I fear
My knees
buckle, and my cheek touches the earth
My body surrenders, and
makes the ground its berth
My lids flutter, but not before my eyes
see
A triumphant face, with spanned wings in all its glory
III
So
absorbed was I in a world of deceit, full of lies
Oblivious to the
beginning of the Soul’s demise
Riches, drink, damsels and wives
the shover’s game
Losers all on the board of shame
Women were
women with no distinctions in-between
All to be consumed, no
forbidden cuisine
Just shove the dough, and fancies met
Friends
and spouses, in an illicit duet
Money was
the root of dreams fulfilled
Never stop the booze till uttermost
refilled
All’s fair in lust in the drunken binge
Freedom
unlimited at the moral’s fringe
No matter
how little or how much obtained
The fear of lost and lack
remained
Soon more could be gained only with deceit
The bigger
the gain the greater the conceit
When
riches made the world go round
Fulfilled dreams and wishes
abound
The notion was everything’s forever
The thought of
defeat was never
Then came
a time when drink sought a companion
In all the merriment I sought
to be a racing champion
The car swerved and something’s hit
A
life-turning event in a moment’s flit
In panic,
in fear, I sought to escape
The sin covered in a mental drape
Hid
a sin and the tranquil depart
A fool and his mind would soon part
The
days-after spent in fear
Shoulders used for looking over
Shadows
lurking in the corners
Intruding and cutting-in without manners
It was the
time of trials and tribulations
Of tested friendships and their
degradations
Once they were there, then no one came
With all
their reasons, but a snub all the same
Then the
board of Life sprang a surprise
And it became the Devil's
device
That shoved at the brink of defeat
Into the pit of
ruination complete
With no
materials and a troubled mind to subsist
A man in a material world
had ceased to exist
A forgotten mendicant on Invisible Street
It
was time for a purposeful retreat
IV
I lie
asleep, my body dead
My mind hears a voice so nicely said
This
is the corpse of a stone-hearted being
Bury the dead and let the
rest go on living
On a hard
rock bed my back feels sore
Try to move and the hurt comes more
In
pain I sense a new beginning
An old taint soon to be abating
I feel a
lump from my inside lifts
My heart thumps and something
shifts
Like the passing of day from night
As a darkened room
filled with light
Like at
dawn when you hear the birds sing
Expecting in moments the sun to
bring
The brightness of day to shine your spirit
With no
doubting if the thought has merit
The
complete trust I give has no equal
To anything I’ve given in my
life prequel
In death I shall come alive
In the hands of a
Master I shall revive
