STAND TALL!
As the title of this work says, six words, if practiced, will lead you to, and keep you on, a sure path to happiness. The knowledge contained in this six-word philosophy and way of life can change your life forever. However, it is absolutely necessary for you to know the words by heart, understand them fully, and make them a part of yourself. The first page of this book gives you the first two words:
STAND TALL!
Only two little words, but they are powerful words that form the necessary foundation on which all else depends. Notice that they are not “passive”; they demand ACTION. If you have the idea that you can read these pages and through magic or osmosis achieve wanted results, you may as well stop now. If, however, you are truly interested in improvement, and you are willing to expend whatever energy it takes, then you should continue to read the message.
The words, “stand tall,” probably evoke an image in your mind of someone standing backbone straight, much like a soldier standing at attention. That’s an especially good image to keep in mind as you go through this section where you will learn that the face value of “stand tall” is more complex and comprehensive as applied to the six-word path to happiness.
STANDING TALL, as referred to here, is pervasive. It covers virtually every aspect of your life. The thought of standing tall and the idea of its results must be constantly in your mind. You must be willing to do whatever is necessary to “stand tall.” Basically, it means liking yourself and being pleased with your own actions, your own talents, and your own contribution to society. It means doing your best in every circumstance. It means saying NO to the crowd when the crowd is wrong. It means not giving in to peer pressure when you don’t agree, or when you simply don’t want to go along with others.
Remember the image I mentioned earlier? STANDING TALL does not convey an image of someone with head hung down in shame or guilt. People who stand tall are not cringing in fear or doubt, nor are they crawling in defeat. Neither or they wallowing in self-pity. People who stand tall are in tune with themselves, and they take the responsibility to make sure they remain true to individual principles.
