Author bio:
When asked why I write, I usually stutter out a made up answer that I can't remember three seconds later. I can't remember the very first time I decided I wanted to write, it's just something I kind of always did. I wrote really bad poems as a kid, then horrible short stories as a teenager and then passable plays in college. I'm an adult now (and nothing you can say can make me change my mind about that) and hopefully my writing has progressed with my age. When I'm not spending my time with made up people in made up places doing made up things - some would call it lying- I'm generally reading, running, watching sports, drinking good beers and eating too much food with the hubby. I'd love to tell you I'm a mountain climber or an astronomer or something cool like that, but I'm not that cool. In truth, some would say I'm nerdy. But the Dr. Who poster above my computer would beg to differ.

In Berlyn’s world, there’s not enough room for both Love and Ambition, but the two will duke it out until the end.

I've loved to write ever since I learned how to read. I'm a self-proclaimed "foodie." I'm a sucker for a great patio, a lemondrop martini, and my closest friends in the evenings. My pets are my kids; a Schnauzer, two German Shephards, and two fat lazy kitties. I'm learning about wines, and enjoy finding new ones to try. I've been stricken with Wanderlust, and I'm obsessed with travel! I'm originally from Hudson Valley, NY. I currently reside in a suburb of Dallas.

Confronted by a woman who looks like both a witch and a ghost, Mark Willoughby learns he is “The One Marked by Willow”, destined to save a strange land called Lazaronia from a curse of childlessness. As if this and the idea of never seeing his family again aren’t enough, Mark also has to free the Goddess Lazaria, imprisoned on her ice-bound moon by the wizard who cast the infertility spell.
Author bio:
Laraine Anne Barker has always enjoyed telling stories. As a child, when playing with dolls with her younger sisters became boring, she would make up stories featuring the dolls. She also remembers how she and her sisters wrote stories into exercise books and even illustrated them, using crayons to colour them because they found that rubbing on the crayon pictures gave them a shine similar to that of glossy colour pictures in magazines. Laraine submitted her first book (for adults) to a publisher at about the age of 21 and received a very kind rejection letter in which the editor suggested the story could be rewritten for young readers. She regrets she didn't keep the rejection and follow up on the advice. She didn't start writing fantasy for young children until 1986. After many rewritings the book started then became The Obsidian Quest.

Author bio:
I write for kids. I write for cooks. I have 50 published books out. 11 of them won awards. I had an adventurous, feisty, interesting marriage for 23 largely happy years. My husband, Ned, went out bicycling one day, got hit by a car and died. I garden. I blog. I cook. I live in Vermont. Used to live in Arkansas. Before that, New York. These days I hang out a lot with my very old mother, Charlotte Zolotow, a famous children’s book writer. Also her cat, Tumbleweed. My late father, Maurice Zolotow, was Marilyn Monroe’s first biographer. Yes, it’s my real name. I think anxiety, procrastination and discomfort are powerful creative forces in disguise. I think that apparent obstacles are building materials. That writing practices and principles spill over, cornucopia-like: from writing to life. I teach writing. I teach people how to befriend uncertainty and fear through writing and thereby reclaim their creative powers of self-love and reinvention. And become better writers. I think we’re all part of the narrative life tells itself about itself. No wonder we all have something to say.

She gave up the bike when her daughter came along, although she still gets pummeled at the gym on a regular basis. When she’s not writing or working, Jeanette spends time with family, hikes, reads, makes decadent brownies, buys killer boots, and plays Pocket Frogs. She wishes there were more hours in the day so she could actually do more of these things. She lives with her daughter and their ancient, ill-tempered cat in North Carolina.

In 2010 I self-published Life of the Party, and in 2011 it was named a finalist in both the Young Adult and First Novel categories of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. I've been thrilled with its success so far and am eager to get started again.
