Author bio:
Christa Wappler was born as an only child into a family knitted tightly together through circumstances never revealed on the evening before Hitler came into power. Her childhood — from the day she was born till the day she finally could leave the «Iron Curtain» — was a never-ending story of hiding or running away from the hated «Hitler Jugend» and an escaping of the devastating bombs falling down from the sky on the city of Dresden on February 13th, 1945 as well as being chased by the Russian occupants during the aftermath of the war. The belief in the good of the human being was implanted in her by the overwhelming love she received from her parents, family and friends carrying her through those years.

I left home at age 14. Not altogether my idea, but character building none the less. I spent time at sea learning those things your Mother wouldn't tell you about, jumped ship in Australia to get away from the bullying. I think it's call jumping out of the frying pan into the fire! I arrived back in Blighty (UK) just before my 16th Birthday. At which juncture the Youth Employment Dept put me into Private Service. Now this was interesting, people spoke to me nicely for a change. I met Royalty and notables on a regular basis. However it was the Royal Protection Squad that always filled my head with their discipline and adventures. Later England decides it needed my help. Conscription was all the rage still. Which found me deposited in full blue heavy serge uniform and kitbag, on a desert atoll in the mid Pacific. What they hadn't mentioned in their travel brochure was they intended detonating a Thermo Nuclear bomb on it. Not, to be frank a good idea in my humble opinion. I was there seemingly, to tell them what that felt like. Not on my own of course. They wouldn't trust just one person's view. Personally I would have preferred Paris. After demob, I found myself back at sea for some more life training. The hidden cost of all this globe trotting is that it becomes difficult to stop and stay just in one place. In complete contrast the next 40 years were spent in the Finance/Investment/Banking industry. Not though without several trips each year to foreign climes, some on business others simply cruising or exploring. Most of my writing is non fiction, and that which I label as Fiction, is actually based on real events, with of course the names changed to protect the guilty! I don't need someone coming around to break my knees, thank you. Whilst some of my books are adventures at sea,and appeal to both passengers and seamen, others have a more politically or financial theme, usually controversial.Non of my writings would appeal to those of a more 'Funder mentalist Outlook'and I would with respect strongly advise such persons avoid all my works.!

Once I complete my new book, I plan to get on Facebook, CreateSpace, Amazon.com and any other website that will expose my work. In 1992, I published the Refrigeration License Examination manual, which has become a standard learning tool for Operating Engineers in the industry. In 1997, I self-published a biography called "The Hector Lavoe Story," a tragic story of Latin America's favorite singer. Then in 1999, I translated my book in Spanish and self-published it as "La Historia Del Cantante, Hector Lavoe." Following these works, I started working with the late Joe Cuba, and completed his biography by 2001. Currently "The Life and Times of the Lengendary Joe Cuba" is completed and available on Smashword.com under biography. These biographies represent an era of music literature that is currently lost between today's Rap and Reggaeton music. My work is fresh, funny and nostalgic.

Author bio:
I was born in Belfast,Northern Ireland on the 15th January 1939 the last of six children. My mother died on Boxing day the same year and the world was at war again. The job of looking after me fell to Lily, my eldest sister. In 1942 she married a British sailor and took me with her to live in Scotland and later England. The complication with me having a different surname name to Lily caused problems with the issue of ration books etc. In March 1943 I was adopted and my name changed to Cook. I remained with Lily and her husband in a mostly unhappy situation until 1950 when I returned home to Ireland and regained my own identity as Rodgers. The years away from Belfast and family left me as a stranger in my own home. In 1954 I began the process to join the Royal Navy, and on the 14th March 1955 march off to HMS Ganges. HMS Ganges was a boys training camp near Ipswich, probably the toughest naval training camp in England. (I refer to my books for a complete history of my early and tumultuous life). Today you will find me living with my wife of forty years on our 15 acre hobby farm in Prince Edward Island. We are both retired and share our time with our two dogs and two cats. We have two grown daughters and two wonderful grandchildren. Forgive me if this sounds like a sales pitch, but if you decide to read my books I recommend you begin with 'Lily & Me' then follow with 'The Royal Navy & Me' as it is the sequel. I also invite you to visit my web site at www.irishroversbooks.com and please sign my guest book.

Le Vent d'Avezan by Gaelle Kermen Le Vent d'Avezan by Gaelle Kermen Dec. 18, 2010 $3.99 65131 words Sample 30%

From the time I was 17 until I was was 24, I was a substantial part of the white power movement. I was a founding member of what went on to become the largest racist skinhead organization on Earth, a Reverend of a self-declared Racial Holy War, and lead singer of the race-metal band Centurion, selling over 20,000 CDs of the most violent, hateful music ever made around the world. There is blood from innocent people on my hands that will never wash off. There are kids today who listen to my voice bellowing my lyrics as they're getting drunk and geared-up to go out and hurt people. After 7 years of involvement, the combination of single parenthood and higher education finally instilled enough doubt in the racist dogma that I had vehemently promoted for so long to allow sight beyond the narrow view I clung to. There was one particular afternoon that marked my epiphany: I arrived early to pick my daughter up from daycare. No one had noticed me, so I took in the moment, watching with teared eyes as my little girl played with the other kids. It struck me that they were all children; not black children, or white children, but the sons and daughters of mothers and fathers. I thought of all the people I had hurt, whether with my own hands or by lighting some psychopath's fuse. Those people had moms and dads and brothers and sisters. How did their loved ones feel when they saw this person who was so special to them battered and broken? How horrible would it be to have my daughter exposed to such violence in the slightest aspect? Love for my child thawed a dormant empathy for people that I was never aware of. I have changed drastically over the years since then, becoming a person who seeks out and embraces the diversity of our wonderful human family. A person who ultimately realized that basic human needs -air, water, food, hope, and love -transcend race. I didn't become this person with the intention of simply being the antithesis of what I was. It happened very organically once I became too exhausted to maintain the lies necessary to be a racist. Today I work with an amazing group of friends to publish Life After Hate, a monthly online magazine dedicated to basic human goodness, which is the innate and natural desire to live an open and honest life while treating all other life with compassion and respect. This core truth serves as the foundation for peace as it’s common to every world religion and transcending of ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, and any other sort of difference that seems to sort human beings.
