Kameko Murakami is an author and oddball who lives in a somewhat-haunted Victorian in San Francisco, which she shares with a Kitchen God made from various cooking utensils and a candle, a dog which appears out of thin air (but only when it wants to shower in her bathroom), a sometimes roommate who likes to shoot pistols with her eyes closed and far too many dusty books to even bother with counting. She is also dating a Serbian with a handlebar mustache. Furthermore, she is a fan of horseradish cheese and silly biographical information written in the pre-dawn hours. And I am nothing more than a girl who has been eccentric about writing since I was ten years old and now I finally have a chance to publish my work through the years. I may not be a big writer like Stephen King or Michael Crichton , and really don't believe I may ever make it that big. But there's no harm in hope. Plus I love success stories like that of Starbucks, where some one can make it with despite all odds against them. It proves that it's possible. And I just a hate the idea of the world where big businesses are trying to step on the little guy.

Author bio:
I took great pleasure in writing Destiny's Warriors. Celt myth and the wonderment of Pagan gods sent me on a journey that took 17 years to write all ten novels in the series. The brutality of human sacrifice to appease the gods is a part of history that is horrific. And, the idea of Gods having to deal with the same emotional issues as mortal man was fascinating for me to create. This wonderful journey into mystical realms guided me to continue and finish the saga. I tell of enchanted warriors, mystical creatures and monsters such as Crimson Death and Banshees. The struggle to survive, heartache, betrayal and rivalry are what my characters have to face in this fantasy. You'll cry, cringe in fear and feel in awe at the romance as you read my tale. I hope you enjoy reading Destiny's Warriors. May a Rainbow be your guide down destiny's path. R. M. Putnam

Last Hope, Book One: Onslaught by Drew Brown Last Hope, Book One: Onslaught by Drew Brown May 18, 2012 $3.99 80444 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
I was born in 1981, the first child of David and Catherine, although it wasn’t long before I had a sister, Natalie. We grew up in a small Bedfordshire town, about thirty-minutes drive from London, and I spent my days jaunting between various sports fields and the nearby woods, where fun and adventure were never far away. The first book I remember wanting to read was The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, and I’m embarrassed to say the school-library copy is still on my bookshelf. As a nine-year-old I think the story was somewhat lost on me, but the pictures were very cool. My love of horror, sci-fi and films with lots of action goes back as long as I can remember, and undoubtedly stems from my mum, who is similarly afflicted with a soft-spot for anything on the telly that goes bang or makes her jump. Some of my fondest childhood memories are staying up late on a Saturday night to watch a James Bond or Schwarzenegger film with my parents on either side of me. I have my own sofa now, but I’m still channel hopping to find the same thrill! It’s the horror genre that I find most captivating and I watched, read and played within it as much as I could growing up. During my teenage years, with the release of the Resident Evil 2 video game, I found a particular fondness for zombies that has stayed with me ever since. There is something about the duality of a recognisable world filled with the stuff of nightmares that resonates with me as much now as it did then. In fact, as life progresses, and I’ve made the gradual (and sometimes reluctant!) change from carefree-teen to responsible adult, the thought of such events is even more terrifying… My life changed when I met Serena in 2001, and I’m proud to say we married three-and-a-half years later in 2004. Without her love and support, I’m not sure where I’d be now. In 2009 we were blessed with the birth of our son, Luke. He came home for the first time on the morning of my twenty-eighth birthday. When I’m away from work I still enjoy various sports and I have a masochistic streak for undertaking DIY projects that I should probably leave to someone else. For the record, I don’t regret the week that Serena and Luke had to move out because we had no running water while I put down a new floor in the bathroom. Perhaps I simply like to see Serena’s wide-eyed expression when I utter the now dreaded words: “I reckon I could do…” Should you wish to contact me about my work, I’d be more than happy to hear from you: drew_brown@live.com

The Haunted Mirror by Drac Von Stoller The Haunted Mirror by Drac Von Stoller May 18, 2012 Free! 452 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Drac Von Stoller's imagination and fascination for the Horror genre began when he was a little boy watching his favorite actors such as Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Bela Lugosi on his little black and white television alone in his dark room. Drac would watch these horror movies for hours and build model kits of his favorite characters like Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein and even the Munster's car from his favorite television series. Then as time went on and nothing was left to the imagination in the new horror movies, Drac still loved watching the old movies he so loved as a little boy. Then as Drac became an adult he decided one day that he would write a short story in the horror genre and let some of his friends read it and see what they thought. Drac's first short story was titled "Death in the Wilderness," which would be considered flash fiction but this would be Drac's test to see if he was destined to be an author. Sure enough when people read "Death in the Wilderness" they loved it but couldn't understand why Drac didn't keep on with the story but Drac knew all along that if what they read was so good then Drac has succeeded. This gave Drac the confidence he needed to keep on writing more and more short stories. The rest is history Drac has now written 31 short stories in the course of a 2 year span. Drac doesn't want to write a story unless it moves him in a way that he would want to read his own work and say any horror or ghost fan would not be disappointed.

The author, M.E. Brines, spent the Cold War assembling atomic artillery shells and preparing to unleash the Apocalypse (and has a medal to prove it.) But when peace broke out, he turned his fevered, paranoid imagination to other pursuits. Designer of more than twenty sci-fi wargames and The Struggle of Nations play-by-e-mail game (all available at www.MEBrines.com) he spends his spare time scribbling another steampunk romance occult adventure novel, which despite certain rumors absolutely DOES NOT involve time-traveling Nazi vampires! A member of the British Society for Psychical Research, he is a long-time student of the occult, a committed Christian*, and author of two dozen books, e-books, chapbooks and pamphlets on esoteric subjects such as Alien Abduction, Alien Hybrids, UFOs, Conspiracies, Mind Control the Falun Gong, esoteric Nazism, the Knights Templar, astrology, magick, the Bible, the spear of Longinius and Christian discipleship. His work has also appeared in Challenge magazine, The Traveller Chronicle, Midnight Times, The Outer Darkness, Tales of the Talisman, and The Willows magazine. *I'm often asked how I square Christianity and "messing around" with the occult, as if I'm partial to bestial things with a goat under the amber light of the moon or something. No so. I'm a student, in the same way I used to study Soviet weapons and tactics back when I was a US Army officer. This gives my work a unique perspective no matter what your belief system. I don't judge, just present the information and let the reader decide.

In Poe's Shadow by A. W. & Jennifer Gifford In Poe's Shadow by A. W. & Jennifer Gifford May 16, 2012 $2.99 44050 words Sample 5%
Author bio:
Many of A. W. Gifford’s story ideas come from the nightmares of his wife, Jennifer. Though she too is a writer of dark fiction, she will never write these stories herself, fearing that if she does, they will come true. He is the editor of the dark fiction magazine Bête Noire and his work has appeared in numerous magazines, webzines and anthologies. Though he grew up in the northern suburbs of Detroit, he now resides outside of Atlanta, Georgia with his wife, two dogs, Reagan and Riley, and a pride of cats. Jennifer Gifford has always had a fascination with the dark and humorous side of fiction. She hates creepy old dolls, spiders, and garden gnomes. The inspiration for her stories strikes her in the oddest of places from an elevator, walking in class, even in the shower. She loves to read, to cook, and loves horror movies. In turn, her nightmares are often the basis for her husband's stories, because she fears that writing her own nightmares will make them come true. Jennifer has been writing for almost two decades, and spends her time in three states: Georgia , Michigan , and panicked.

I have enjoyed every step of the journey and met some very interesting people along the way. This is a world where dreams do come true. I act as a freelancer on the side, doing the odd job here and there. It’s very enjoyable to help someone bring their dreams to life. So what made me decide to become a writer? It was an easy decision. The freedom of creating my own worlds and then sharing those places with others is an experience like none other. I hope you enjoy my stories. Without you reading them, these worlds would never come to life. I hope you enjoy your stay in the Dwayne Zone. :)
