Broken Angel | by Christina Worrell April 24, 2012 | $0.99 | 3795 words | Sample 5% |
| Author bio: I am a married mother of two. I have read books since I could hold one in my hands. When I was nine I decided I wanted to write. I won awards in various areas such as service merchandise for writers. Then when I got to be a teen I wrote poetry. Mostly the emotional angst kind. I started writing stories by hand when I was 19 and now at 30 I have finally published one. It took me ten years of writing by hand and not giving up to accomplish my dream. So never give up or you may never know your limits! |

| Author bio: Have you ever heard of the phrase, "A puzzle wrapped up in an enigma".... Well, that is me. I am a puzzle wrapped up in an enigma. I am one of those people that others just cannot figure out. I am reserved but yet not. Best way to explain me is being a surrealistic person. That is way I typical finding myself using surrealism in my arts, and not because I like the style but because it is actually part of my personality. Yet, at the same time when I need to be I am logical and rational, like a Go or a Chess Master at play. |

The Girl on the Hill | by Alenka Co April 21, 2012 | Free! | 11197 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Alenka Co is an uncommon name for an uncommon lady. She moves through life with a quiet grace and beauty that is a reflection of her deep love of dance but not a formal disciplined dance, a natural carefree spirit moved by music and emotions, a love that she has shared with thousands of children over the years and an uninhibited natural grace that , I believe , is seen in the many thousands of photos I have taken of her over our life time together. To the outside world she is often seen as a quiet private person but I have been privlileged to see the wild abandoned passionate side also , this is a woman who lives and feels life on a very deep level, moved by the simplest things and a champion of the downtrodden. Angered and outspoken when confronted by injustice or cruelty, critical of the callous and uncaring world of politicians and any others She despises false compliments and flattery but sincerity and honesty are her most treasured prizes, cannot abide fools but shows compassion and tolerance and concern for those less fortunate or gifted , again seen in her quiet manner when working with children. Her love of literature is reflected both in her insatiable appetite for books and constant search for quality writing and writers and her unrelenting critical assessment of her own work. Writing does not come easily in the sense that near enough is never good enough for her own work it must be right , it must feel and move with the grace and beauty of life as she knows and values it , to flow from point to point ,idea to idea and as naturally as water flows. All her words are chosen, examined and placed carefully often being pulled out and replaced if they jar , revised and rewritten time and again until it is "right" Her love for life , words and movement is reflected in her writing. Her wish in offering her novels is not wealth or fame but to share this love of words as she shared her love for dance with so many so she wishes to share her worlds of people and stories she has created, the characters are her children , her world as it should be but also with all the tragedy, humour, love and passion that exsits in her real world It is an impossible task to describe a person as complex as Alenka in these few words I will finish by saying she admires modesty and is very self-effacing and abhors and detests bragaddacio and the modern idea of selp promotion of getting out there and selling your work and yourself ,public speaking would terrify her if it was for her own benefit yet I know she can stand and talk for others easily, which is why I have to write this for her. "my works should survive or fall on their own merits not on my ability to sell them and myself" Alenka loves natural and real and hates fake and contrived I think it shows in her writing So in the end you the reader are to be the judge and jury of her work, its worth Ron Co email: alenkaco2012@gmail.com |

Heartbreak Hotel (A Tribute to the King in Verse) | by Jeremy Reed April 21, 2012 | $5.99 | 35245 words | Sample 2% |
| Author bio: Jeremy Reed, born on a chip of rock off the French Normandy coast has been for decades Britain’s most dynamic, adventurous, controversial and futures poet. Called by the Independent ‘British poetry’s glam, spangly, shape-shifting answer to David Bowie’, his poetry, fiction and performances of his work are singularly inimitable in their opposition to grey mainstream poetry. He has published over 50 books of poetry, fiction and non-fiction, winning prestigious literary prizes like the Somerset Maugham Award, and was on his coming to live in London in the 1980s patronised by the artist Francis Bacon. His biggest fans are Pete Doherty and Bjork who has called his work ‘the most beautiful, outrageously brilliant poetry in the world.’ Jeremy writes about every subject that British poetry considers taboo, glamour, pop, rock, sci-fi, cyber, mutant, gay, drugs, neuroscientific, the disaffected and outlawed, and the fizzy big city chemistry of the London in which he lives and creates. His performances solo, or with The Ginger Light are unrivalled in intensity. In recent years he has published the first book-length poem on Elvis Presley, Heartbreak Hotel; Saint Billie (Enitharmon) a book-length poem on Billie Holiday; Orange Sunshine an epic poem on 1960s pop culture; Duck and Sally Inside and This is How You Disappear (both Enitharmon), a book of elegies for dead and missing friends; a biography of Anna Kavan: Stranger On Earth; a biography of Lou Reed: Waiting For the Man; a novel: Here Comes the Nice (Peter Owen); and a book of poetry, Piccadilly Bongo which contains a 4 track CD from the singer Marc Almond. Amongst his many other publications are John Stephen: King of Carnaby Street and the 1960s look and a book of sci-fi poems: West End Survival Kit (with an introduction by J.G. Ballard). He works and performs with musician Itchy Ear as The Ginger Light and is available for private parties, functions, corporate events, fashion launches, festivals and London spectaculars. 'Jeremy Reed is a legend. What more can you fucking ask?' Pete Doherty 'Jeremy Reed's talent is almost extraterrestrial in its brilliance. He is Rimbaud reconfigured as the Man who fell to Earth, a visitor from deep space whose time machine was designed by Lautreamont and de Sade, and powered by the most exotic fuels the imagination has ever devised.' J.G. Ballard 'In its detail and ambition alone, Orange Sunshine confirms Reed's place as a great lyric poet of pop's shadow.' Michael Bracewell 'The most beautiful, outrageously brilliant poetry in the world.' Bjork 'When Patti Smith meets Rimbaud at Graceland, the result is Jeremy Reed's Heartbreak Hotel.' Edmund White 'Jeremy Reed is the real definition of British poetry now and deserves to be worshipped himself.' Richard Hell 'One of the most original virtuoso voices to be heard in the poetry of our time.' Lawrence Ferlinghetti 'The man is light worlds apart from his contemporaries in poetry.' Andrew Loog Oldham 'Reed's poetry is full of rich and careful writing, dense with pleasure in words that pleasure the world and waken us to its lovely surprises.' Seamus Heaney. |

Some Lego Haiku | by Mike Romard April 17, 2012 | $0.99 | 250 words | Sample 30% |
| Author bio: I'm the sort of writer who will get 1000 characters to describe himself, and waste all of it to explain why Rarity is his favourite pony, instead of talking about his own work. Rarity, more than any of the other mane six characters, exemplifies what I think My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic gets very right. She's a wonderful example of a pony that defies traditional gender roles, without entirely dismissing them. It's easy to be critical of a female character that has fashion as a primary interest because it's such a stereotypical interest. But Rarity isn't just interested in fashion. She works very hard as a fashion designer. She gets frazzled not because she can't find the right outfit for the big dance, but because she's trying to design five outfits that will please five very different ponies in too short a period of time. Rarity is very passionate about what she does, and while her ego occasionally gets in the way, she obviously cares about other ponies and their needs. |

Poetically: Making Love With Words | by Amy Gabriel April 17, 2012 | $1.99 | 6056 words | Sample 10% |
| Author bio: Amy Gabriel. Artist, poet, blog writer, social networking diva. Recently rediscovered her passion for writing at the tender age of thirty-something. Living a life that she had deemed impossible; a life filled with the beauty of words, syllabically enhanced encapsulated in a happy ending. The love of words has been a constant in Amy’s life. At a young age she discovered that reading was the greatest escape/pleasure/release/comfort, that could ever have been found. As a result, words became a constant companion; swirling in a polysyllabic dance that shaped the future of her world. A multitude of years spent in hospital rooms with a sickly sibling allowed her love for reading, and consequently writing, to come to full fruition. Overcoming obstacles is a prevailing theme in Amy’s blog Words With Sass (http://sassifiable.com), as well as her written and spoken poetry. She has had difficulties throughout her life but has used them as a tool for inspiration versus despair. |

When I was a teen writing was my outlet. I wrote down all the crazy things that I was feeling inside. My mother encouraged this practice and I must say that I am very glad that she did. It provided an escape for me. I didn't feel like I was being judged and I still got everything out and always felt much better. My dream is to be a writer. So, thank you to everyone who reads my writings. |

| Author bio: FilthySecretBooks publishes any story involving relationships, including the good times, the bad times, the ugly, the straight, the gay, or anything in between. We are committed to showing all ranges of love stories that don't always have a tragic ending or a happily ever after, which seems to be the classic endings of most other books involving romantic relationships. We believe, regardless of genre, that an intimate connection is always a part of a great story. |
