Sphereshifters: Aleph (Story Arcs 1, 2) | by Joshua Lemay May 07, 2012 | Free! | 19402 words | Sample 100% |
| Author bio: The story of a boy who became a man named Josh(actually the boy was named Josh, too). His father, a dreaded Canadian pirate named Pierre, swooped in one day to seduce his mother, Angela the Princess of a long lost country(my grandfather was from Greece, but no one even knows where that is). They did things, but that's for their bio, not mine, so we won't talk about that(also, ew, parents, gross). And then, with stars shining in the sky like a twinkling omen of amazing awesomeness, I was born. I went on to greatness immediately, like learning to walk and speak English. Later, having attended a brutal school where they beat the potatoes into an unrecognizable mash if they looked at the teachers funny(then served them for lunch to the students, which is awful), I learned how to survive in the hard streets of New Hampshire. All of that has led me here, to write. With my unique and -real- lifetime experience, I know I have a story to tell and I'm gonna tell it! Except the stories won't have anything to do with me, and they're mostly fun and fantasy and magic and adventure, but isn't that neat? Check them out! They're down there somewhere, just lower your eyes a bit and maybe scroll. I like to use the mousewheel, but you can click the scroll bar buttons or use your arrow keys, too. |

Jack City | by Robert J Dornan May 07, 2012 | Free! | 71730 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I write and edit every day without fail. I began this "dream" during my university days so many years ago. I wrote short stories and lyrics and often shared them with friends. A decade later I tried my hand at screenwriting and actually completed one but never did anything with it. About seven years ago I wrote a fluff story about a business man who falls in love with a Russian woman and somehow the "Russian" theme has crept into a couple of my manuscripts. The book did okay but I never marketed it and lost interest. My love for writing returned as my children grew older and they - without knowing - compelled me to write Jack City as well as Legends of Tanushka. In the next two years I have plans to release four more books |

| Author bio: J. Tomas is a pseudonym, I'll admit it up front, under which I publish gay YA fiction. I write gay erotic romance as J.M. Snyder and publish non-gay fiction, nonfiction, and poetry as J.T. Marie. You can email me at jtomas@j-tomas.net. So who am I? A writer, a reader, a poet. A video game nerd ~ I heart Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, and Legend of Zelda. A cat owner. A movie goer, music lover, boyband groupie. A queer author who remembers all too well the pains of high school, first love, and how it felt to ride the school bus when all the "cool" kids had their own car. Who knows what it's like to be different in a school of clones, to feel different, look different, act different. Who wants to put those feelings down on paper so others know they aren't alone. More specifically, I live in Virginia with two very spoiled cats. I have a day job that's not too bad, and I've always wanted to be a writer, so I write. |

Heroes, Hags, and Wise Guys | by Richard Alan Dickson May 05, 2012 | $5.99 | 22197 words | Sample 10% |
| Author bio: Richard Alan Dickson's writings range from the traditional science fiction, like "G-Blade" and "Gateway: Left Behind," to the more whimsical "Love, Venusian Style" and the Cat Patrol Delta series. He also writes stories for young adults, with titles like "Mister Majestor's Magnificent Menagerie" and "Diver Down!" The kids and the young-at-heart are represented, too, with stories such as "The Last Great Case of the Sunny Hills Detective Agency" and the short, "Hank the Happy Snowman." Before becoming a full-time fiction writer, Richard spent twenty years in the business world. After a hungry stint as a fresh-faced stockbroker, he set aside the glamour of Wall Street—along with the thousands of friends he’d made during dinner-hour cold calls—to work as an accounting assistant in the Seattle office of a reinsurance company (yeah, he had to look that word up in the dictionary, too). Once on the corporate ladder, Richard proved that his years spent climbing trees hadn’t been a complete waste of time by quickly climbing to department manager. But corporate winds are no less predictable than any other wind, and climbing in the wind is seldom a good idea. He suddenly found himself on the wrong side of the country when his company was forced to relocate ten years later. They regrouped in New England. He remained in the Northwest. Waving good-bye to the moving vans as they motored down the road, Richard carefully considered his next career. He became a corporate consultant and ran himself happily ragged for the next nine years, traveling the country and racking up more frequent flyer miles than even a CPA could conveniently count. Richard’s final years in Corporate America were spent in a Fortune 500 insurance group. As a VP, Controller, and then an acting CFO, he traveled from one coast to the other putting the lessons he’d learned as a consultant to good use. His current career as a fiction writer takes him much further than any jetliner ever could, and he seldom needs to leave his writing loft to get there. Team: Silence | by Kirstin van Dyke May 04, 2012 | $3.99 | 72283 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: Young adult, sci-fi/fantasy author, Kirstin van Dyke was inspired at age 15 to begin writing "Code Name: Silence". She has always had a fascination with superheroes, superpowers, and has had a lifelong obsession with fantasy and the unknown. It took her three years and nearly ten rewrites before "Code Name: Silence" became the adventure that it is now. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Kirstin showed an interest in art and writing at a very early age. She started to put together "picture books" when she was four years old, and wrote her first story when she was six. When she was in third grade, one of her illustrated books won third place in OPB's "Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest." Ever since, Kirstin dedicated herself to expanding her writing skills into a career. She taught herself art and writing with various textbooks and then took formal art training and writing classes for three years. She wrote "Code Name: Silence" during that time. While "Code Name: Silence" is Kirstin's first book to go to print, she has written another novel prior to it when she was 12, entitled "The Ghost Wolf." Other novels written after "Code Name: Silence" include the modern fantasy "Amethyst," and a project for November 2011's NaNoWriMo event entitled "My Dad Is a Secret Agent". "Team: Silence" - the sequel to Code Name: Silence" was published in April 2012 and is Kirstin's second book in print. Kirstin lives in Oregon with her family, where she continues to write novels, poems, and short stories. In her free time, she likes to paint, draw, and go trail riding on her horse Romeo. Never lacking for ideas and inspiration, Kirstin's dream is to keep creating stories, and put her imagination in writing for other people to enjoy. |

Lavinia's Heart | by Michelle Weisen May 04, 2012 | $2.99 | 59022 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Pennsylvania resident, Michelle Weisen is a literary paradox. The English professor-turned-author writes with the delicate sensibilities of a Victorian mistress/dowager and the strident/clear convictions of a contemporary feminist. The bridge between these seemingly contradictory archetypes is masterfully forged in Lavinia’s Window, her first novel and third children’s book. It was self-published in 2008 by Philadelphia-based Words of Mercy press. Weisen was inspired to write her first book, In My Own World, by a friend’s son who is autistic. Brilliantly illustrated by Paul Mahoney, the book won the 2007 Dragonpencil Award for Superior Illustration. Spurred by her early success, Weisen co-wrote a second children’s book that year, Wildlife Rescue Rangers, with Paul’s wife, artist Tracy Mahoney. Their aim was simple: to raise kids’ awareness of the plight of wildlife in an increasingly fragile ecosystem. As a person who cares deeply about kids and the environment, Weisen donates a portion of the proceeds from each book to nonprofit organizations benefiting children. Her Pennsylvania-based publishing company, Words of Mercy, promotes literature that gives children a positive outlook on the world and shows them tangible ways to make the world a better place. “Our books focus on the importance of caring for one another and preserving the earth, providing children and their families with enriched reading experiences,†she says. Weisen earned her master’s in English from Florida International University in Miami where she taught writing and, after moving to Pennsylvania five years ago, she has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Delaware and, most recently, Penn State University. Her graduate work focused on American and British “domestic fiction,†a genre popular between 1850 and 1880. “I love all things Victorian,†she said, especially the early best-sellers written by well-educated women who couldn’t work but were gifted, if unpaid, novelists. They wrote about their lives and families, often featuring plucky young heroines who had a strong moral compass and a penchant for adventure. Lavinia’s Window fits that model but incorporates updated themes of empowerment, self-reliance, and independence. Michelle has completed the sequel, Lavinia’s Heart, which is available now. A self-described “old soul,†Weisen lives in State College, Pennsylvania with her husband Art, and their menagerie of four turtles (parting gifts from former students), Morgan, a rescued labrador retriever and a very spoiled pug named Elmo. |

Taste | by Jay Broderick May 04, 2012 | $2.99 | 12802 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Hello. You can call me Ahlice or Jay (I prefer Ahlice though, haha!). I’ve battled a lot of things in my short life that’s brought me to the edge of suicide and ruined my relationships with many of people. I’ve made myself irritable, mentally unstable, and physically unwell for a few years of my life. As I’m coming out of this, my voice has become stronger than ever. I want to write more than I ever had, and I want to learn more about people as individuals. People are important and vastly unimportant to me at the same time. While I appreciate those and their accomplishments to better themselves and overcome their demons, I also hate humanity. And I mean it; we’ve destroyed civilizations, used animals as our play-things, and are ruining the beautiful Earth that’s allowed us to live and strive. I’d like to absorb myself more in the history of things (mainly Caribbean and African history), and I’d like to learn a lot more about us as people. Ignorance is our greatest enemy as people, and I want nothing more than to fight it. I’m irrational. I’ve always been irrational. I can be rational and intellectual, but I can also be deceiving, idiotic, and cruel. I know these faults in myself, and I’m working on myself. Although it’s been hard, I’m trying to find me. I write mainly gay fiction. I find homosexual love the purest love there is; a child doesn’t hold them together, society attack them for being who they are, and they have a chance of inconsiderate family members disowning them, yet they still hold their heads high and hold hands bravely. That is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever witnessed. My best friend of nearly 9 years is lesbian, and, when she had her most recent girlfriend, was the only lesbian couple in my entire school to hold hands as they walked down the hallways. They literally ignored all of the harsh comments that came their way and worried only about their own relationship. If that isn’t magnificent, then what is? I like to spread awareness with my stories. I’m currently writing a book (that I wish to publish), about eating disorders in men, which you don’t see very often. I feel like writing stories about these plots help show everybody that things like this do exist. There is no bliss in ignorance. I also write about incest, pedophilia, abuse, BDSM, and much more. I hope you get to know me more. |
